View Full Version : The salary demands are outrageous and farfetched heres why
This definatly needs to be fixed in future versions because the players demand unrealistic amounts of money which makes it impossible to stay on budget and makes it very unrealistic. Not every player overall in the 90's get like over a 20 million dollar contract. Than I turn around and see a team sign them for much cheaper than they were demanding me to pay them.
Especially top of the line minor players once there contract expires they demand outrageous amounts like 20 plus million or for some 25 plus million. I understand this all based on skill but this needs to be tweaked in order to add some continuity and realism. I'm sick of losing my top talent due to budget constraints and there over the top salary demands.

I agree that it should be fixed, but for now, use the Salary Demands changer in Advanced Options to edit how much players ask for.

I reported this a while ago. Just like your free agents ask for more money to resign with your team than when they turn free agents and sign with a new team. I just release them and resign them. I does bother me that a AAA player want big time money, I don't mind giving them a raise, but not millions.

The reason they cost less on other teams is they buy them not right away but weeks/months after free agent period starts. Their demands go down each week or so if no one gets them.

While this is true, that may not be the reason other teams sign them for less. I have noticed that in this year's version of the game when a player is released onto the free agent market, they actually demand less than they did if you try to sign them for an extension. Instead of a "hometown" discount there is a hometown premium. This may have something to do with setting the salary demands less than normal, perhaps it effects free agent demands different than re-signing a palyer.

In this version, it appears that it cost more to resign your players than to release them and then resign them. Not looking at the time frame that you sign them, this is release and sign right away. This has been around since I believe this version of the software. In years past to use to get a slight discount resigning your players, the reverse is true this year. I don't adjust the settings to control the players salary demands.

Some of this depends on how much cash you stockpile. As team finances are public in BMO, a player might ask for more money from a team that can afford it.

But this doesn't really explain why a free agent-to-be on MY team demands more money for an contract extension than after he becomes a free agent demands less money to sign with me. It seems the opposite of real life. There always used to be a gamble/risk to be made signing a guy in the last year of his contract, instead of seeing how he performs. Now, there is no incentive to do this, since they will demand less when they become a free agent.

Good point. I'll tweak this in the next patch. Honestly, I have to pull a few tricks like this on the highest difficulty levels, otherwise it's too easy to succeed.

Another thing i dont like about free agents is that all the top free agents get signed on the First day of free agency, after the 1st week of free agency the highest rated player left as a free agent is like an 80.. I liked it like last year that players negotiated like in real life and signed a couple of days or weeks after free agency begins

One thing that bugs me is a player who hasn't played one game in the majors demand in millions of $...
Salary demands should be based on stats much before talent...
Just my two cents...

I have nothing to say other than that What needs a location. I suggest "Second Base".
