Time for another new league. But I don't want to be one of those guys who posts "hey, join my league!" and then nobody does and they are left with a league with three people. So I'm going to start this thread, and I would like people who are interested in the league to email me or post here (preferrably the latter).

The league will be called "Union Association" after the failed 1884 major league. Nice article on it in the new Bill James book, by the way.

After much thought, I have decided it is best to have a new non-equalized league. Most of the new leagues are equalized, so this provides a good alternative for long-time players and newbies alike. Of course, we still have the Colorado problem - I'm not sure how to solve that. I'll take suggestions.

I'm a very active player, and I play in very active leagues (MAL, Elite) so I hope to get active players here.

The league will be 30/day, weekday only. I know many people like everyday leagues but for those of us who access Mogul at work, everyday leagues can be difficult to follow.

Everyone should log in once every two days unless they post that they are going on vacation, or risk being booted.

Instead of a "no trade with computer" clause, I will allow you to propose a trade to the computer if you check it with the commish first (that's me). This way computer teams aren't totally blocked off, but you can't pull one of those "9 awful players for one good one" trades. I hate it when I have three 2B prospects and need a SP, and the computer has 7 SPs and no 2B, so this gets around that.

When we first start, I'll change all the contracts of players above 40 points, so that the difference between the contract and 40 pts is halved. I've noticed that in the real Mogul nobody seems to sign a contract for more than 70 or so once the original contracts are up.

For example, Manny Ramirez will go from 100 to 70. A-Rod goes from 105 to 73. Piazza goes from 65 to 53.

Once the league starts, teams will have the opportunity to drop, free of charge, one player for any tier they are in. This allows small market teams to get out of silly "Andy Fox 6 points" contracts signed by the real major leagues. Tier 1 teams can drop 1 player. Tier 5 teams can drop 5 players.

I am going to wait to create the league until after January 1, so we have some time to build up to at least 20 human owners. Please post here if you would like to join. I hope to have an active, competitive, and realistic league.

Thanks, all

Aaron

Don't seem to be getting much attention, but I'll bump this up anyway. If other people out there want to start new active leagues, please email me. There's no reason to start 5 leagues with 5 people each when we can start 1 with 25 people.

If folks want, I am ammenable to playing 7 days a week, not 5.

If you go to seven days I will play. I prefer 60 games per day but can live with 30 sims per day if the league is seven days a week.

I have a lot of respect for ASchatz because he tried really hard to keep the MAL league alive. Even though he failed it was not from lack of trying.

Anybody reading this post should know I think he will make a very good commissioner although maybe he does need to get a cheap computer and an inexpensive internet service provider for his home. Hint, hint!

Well, I haven't received much interest in a new league, so I'm cancelling it. I joined MLB Equalized to pass the time until I started my own league, and I've gotten caught up in rebuilding the Red Sox. They were 4-158 in 2003 (I kid you not) and I've got them into the playoffs in 2006.

Let me just say, though, that I agree with what James Grove wrote in another post here, that it is best to consolidate into leagues with as many human owners as possible. If I wanted to play a compuer, I would just buy the home game.

Another uncompensated endorsement for MLB Equalized, the original equalized league in BBMO! :D

In Aaron's case, he took over a decimated Red Sox team from an owner who just could not follow the rules of the league. The 'Sox were hit with an SMU/NCAA-style "death penalty," and Aaron has managed to revive them into one of our league's better teams!

Though all the teams in Equalized are owned right now, teams are still available in its sister leagues, MLB Mogul League Baseball (now gearing up for its 16th season) and MLB 2002 (which just debuted on New Years' Day).

Come... Get in Our Game!
