Well the Red Sox have hired me to return them to their Glory years which was about 80 years ago. They have not won a WS since 1918, before the traded "The Babe".
It is my job to have them win as many WS titles as they can over the next several decades.
Now I am going to use a format similar to the one Scorey used in his "100 year Dynasty". (Hope ya don't mind).
Let the playing begin!!!

2004 SEASON
Season Results
We finished with a 102-60 record. It was good enough to put us 8 games ahead of the Yankees for first place in the AL East!! Goal 1 accomplished!! It also gave us the best record in baseball. We played the Twins in the ALDS who were 82-80, the worst record in the playoffs. Somehow they won the AL Central. We easily won the series 3-1. We now move on to the ALCS to face the Angels who upset the Yankees. We took a quick
2-0 lead going into California. We won the first game, but we lost the second. The series was now 3-1. They the third game and final game at California and we were headed back to Boston leading 3-2. We won the first game back in Boston and we were headed to the World Series!!! We played the NL Champions Houston Astros in the series. They won the first game, but we won the second game in Boston. They had done what they wanted – split the two games in Boston. We went to Houston and lost the first two games. We faced elimination at a 3-1 deficit. We won the final game in Houston to bring it BACK to Boston!! We were 6-1 in the post season in Boston and felt confident that we could bring the trophy home. We won the first game back 6-2 in front of a full house! We had tied it back up at three! In the final game, with a number of celebrities on hand, we ………………. lost 7-6 in the top of the 13th inning. We had trailed 6-1 in the 8th inning and made a great effort to come back.
Team Highlights
Team MVP: Curt Schilling gets this honor, because of his great efforts. He went 26-3 with an era of 3.10 and led the league in Ks with 267. The lineup ended up hitting a combined 207 hrs, the lowest for a player was 12 by Pokey Reese. Johnny Damon and Reese only managed to combine for 57 SBs at the top of the lineup. Even worse they had a combined OBA .321!! Our lineup really struggled throughout the playoffs. Our top four starters combined a record of 63-22, that’s 15 wins per person. Keith Foulke had 41 saves and an era of 3.00.
Awards/Milestones
Curt Schilling led the league in both Ks and wins with 267 and 26 respectively. He also won the CY Young award. Keith Foulke led the league with 41 saves. We only had 3 all star representatives. They were Schilling, Pedro Martinez, and Foulke. Manny Ramirez scored his 1000th run this season also.
End of Season
Due to our Financial troubles, we had to release everyone with expiring contracts. The following:
•C Jason Varitek
•C Doug Miribelli
•SS Pokey Reese
•IF Mark Bellhorn
•3b Bill Mueller
-1b Brian Daubach
•OF Ellis Burks
•SP Pedro Martinez
•SP Derek Lowe
•SP Robert Person
•RP Scott Williamson
•RP Ramiro Mendoza
•RP Mike Timlin
We traded away Byung – Hyun Kim to Cleveland for C Victor Martinez and SP Jason Stanford.
The Draft
Round 1.30 SP Mike Blank (77/81)
Round 2.30 CF Herman Margulis (59/81)
Round 3.30 SP Joseph Alexander (64/78)
Round 4.30 SP Tim Pieper (64/77)
Round 5.30 RP Grant Hubbard (65/77)
Round 6.30 LF Arvin Bradley (53/71)
Blank will start off in Boston. There was hardly any talent in this draft.
Upcoming Year
This year will be a HUGE drop-off. We have lost a NUMBER of key players due to Free Agency. We traded away Tim Pieper and Arvin Bradley to LA for 3b Robin Ventura. I am hoping we can get back into positive cash, especially with a lower payroll. Some questions going into Spring Training:
• Can Blank start right away?
• Will Robin Ventura produce?
• Can John Burkett rebound from his AWFUL year?
Spring Training
• Garciapparra came in shape batting .355 with 6 hrs and 22 rbi.
• Ramirez showed up also batting .366 with 5 hrs and 16 rbi
• Victor Martinez showed promise batting .361

Season Results
We ended up going 75-87 overall. We were last place in the east, which was probably the best division in baseball this year. It showed in our record of how much of a hit we took due to financial problems. We did better than I thought we would but the pitching just flat out was TERRIBLE!! We made $1.9 million thanks to Red Sox Fans who just kept on showing up even though we had such a bad season. The lower payroll also helped. During the season we trade Johnny Damon and Kevin Millar away dues to their expiring contracts which we wouldn’t have been able to extend. And to add note about the attendance the average was at 32,096 fans per game! We have a 33,871 seat ballpark. Pretty good I’ll say!!
Team Highlights
As a team we hit .283 and only had 2 players in the lineup under 10 homeruns. We gained 1.8 million as noted above. Tom Goodwin hit .293 in the second half of the season, when he had to take over Johnny Damon’s spot in the lineup. He also stole 29 bases in limited efforts. Rookie catcher Victor Martinez performed well at catcher and hit .316 with 10 home runs and 72 rbi. Pedro Feliz (we acquired for Kevin Millar) hit .270 and showed signs of power by hitting 13 home runs in the second half of the season. The middle of the lineup had lots of power and each of them hit for more than 30 homers.
Awards/Milestones
We had one all star representative, which was Nomar Garciapparra. Manny Ramirez hit his 400th home run of his career and showed signs of a future 500 home run hitter. Curt Schilling struck out a batter for the 3000th time in his Hall of Fame career. Johnny Damon, while with the team, scored his 1000th run and stole his 300th base. Last but not least, Robin Ventura hit his 300th home run and scored his 1000th run as a major leaguer.
End of the Season
We released the following players:
•Adrian Brown
•Lou Collier
•Bill Hasselman
•Tim Wakefield
•Bronson Arroyo
•John Burkett
•Mark Malaska
•Rudy Saenz
As you see, most of the people were from pitching in which we have struggled the past two years. This year is Curt Shcilling’s last contract year so I am hoping we can gain a large profit and be able to sign him.
The Draft
Round 1.7 SP Vance Braga (79/94) 19 year old
Round 2.7 RP Jorge Raves (69/81) 20 year old
Round 3.7 RP Wendall Sullivan (70/78) 26 year old
Round 4.7 SP Andrew Kay (59/78) 21 year old
Round 5.7 LF Zack Trieweiler (61/75) 23 year old
Round 6.7 CF Howard Parr (53/74) 19 year old
Sullivan will start of as a setup guy for me.
We traded away Keith Foulke and 6th round pick last year Luke Ross to Atlanta for 18th overall pick RF Bill Carlson. We also traded Trot Nixon to LA for 43 overall pick Ardy Berenson. Last but not least we traded away Steve Woodard for some bench depth, to Oakland for Estaban Guzman.
Coming year
It will be yet another hard struggle as we continue to rebuild. I am hoping to get a lone from the league to build a new stadium and then pay them back. We are looking to get back to positive money, so that we can keep some guys that are helping us win. I am hoping we can win ohh, about 75 games this year. Qustions going into ST:
•Can Pitching rebound off its AWFUL year?
•Can hitting keep up what it has been doing?
•Can the rookies produce now that we have called on them?
Spring Training
•RF Bill Carlson hit .311 with a home run and 8 rbi.
•Pedro Feliz hit .310 with a home run and 6 rbi.

Season Results
We remained in the cellar and went 60-102. Our young bullpen struggled MIGHTILY and it cost us a lot of games. The hitting again performed up to its peak and pitching was just horrible. A lot of our prospects in the minors are ready to come up and we are ready for them to come up also. We gained 10 million in cash but remain 14 million in debt. I am hoping this upcoming year we can actually get out of debt. We’ll have a very low payroll and fans will still show up. An average of 27,000 fans showed up per game.
Team Highlights
The hitting again did excellent and was very powerful. Tom Goodwin had 52 stolen bases and hit .256. David Ortiz had a down year and only hit .244 with 20 home runs. Manny Ramirez edged closer to 500 home runs hitting 35 homers this year. He also hit .294 with 116 rbi. Nomar Garciaparra hit .326 with 32 homers. Victor Martinez has proven he is an all around catcher, hitting .317 with 15 homers. He did miss a total of 7 weeks due to injury though. RF Bill Carlson hit .289 with 7 homers and 78 rbi. He had 27 doubles and triples and 32 SBs.
Awards/Milestones
We again had only one all star which was Manny Ramirez this year. Nomar Garciaparra also deserved to go, but did not receive any votes this year. Tom Goodwin stole his 400th stolen base of his career on May 7th this season. Manny Ramirez gained his 2000th hit on May 22nd. Curt Schilling is now only 100 wins away from 300, as he gained his 200th win on the 27th of May. Nomar Garciaparra scored his 1000th run and drove in his 1000th rbi.
End of Season
We again had to release all of our guys with expiring contracts, this year it includes Curt Schilling. Here is a list of who we released:
·Tom Goodwin
·Curt Schilling
Lucky for us we only had to let go two guys, but two guys who paid HUGE dividends for us while they were here. We traded Joseph Alexander and Reynaldo Garcia for a CF that will have a chance to start for us this year. That CF is Jamal Strong who played for Seattle last year.
The Draft
Round 1.4 RF Abraham Gilbert (77|99)
Round 2.4 RF Rich Costello (65|88)
Round 3.4 1B Quentin Smith (61|81)
Round 4.4 RP/SP Carl Lande (62|78)
Round 5.4 SP Rudy O’Flaherty (59|74)
Round 6.4 SS Vic Reese (53|72)
I would love to either trade one of the top two picks for a SP or turn one of them into a LF for when Manny leaves. All of them will spend time in the minors this year and will be ready next year.
Going into next Season
We look to be better than 60 wins this year, but I am not sure if we can do that with this pitching staff. We have a BOATLOAD of rookies this year and I am sure it will come back to hurt us. Some spring training questions:
·Who will start at CF? Margulis? Strong?
·Can rookies produce?
·WILL THE PITCHING BE ANY BETTER?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Spring Training
Jamal Strong won the job by hitting .366 with 2 SBs. Now this does not eliminate Margulis from getting the job back in the season.
