View Full Version : This is something I don't want to see

This is from Yahoo's web site. I hope they can do something about this. Last thing we need to see in a close election.
LAS VEGAS — Broke, disabled and living at the Daisy Motel in downtown Las Vegas, Tyrone Mrasek Sr. took a temporary job late this summer registering voters here.
The employer primarily wanted President Bush (news - web sites) supporters, but they were not easy to find. So Mrasek handed out cigarettes to drunks and ex-felons at a homeless shelter in exchange for signatures. Later he found a stack of signed registrations for Democratic voters in a trash can outside the company's office, he recalled.
"They had some shady things going on," Mrasek said.
Partisan registration drives have swept through battleground states such as Nevada, Ohio and New Mexico. Hundreds of thousands of new registrations have poured into county and state offices and strained the systems in these states.
But as workers closely examined some forms, they found clear cases of fraud. In some instances, stacks of registrations had the same handwriting. In others, names were lifted from phone books and signatures forged. And many of the new registrations were duplicates of already registered voters.
Financed by political parties, wealthy advocacy groups and grass-roots organizations, liberal and conservative organizations have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to register voters. The crush, along with the irregular registrations, have bred chaos across the nation.
"We were getting stacks of forms with identical handwriting," said Harvard L. Lomax, registrar of voters in Clark County here. "We were getting calls from people wanting to know why they were getting registration forms when they hadn't asked for one. If you went to a DMV office over the last five months, you were mobbed by people trying to register you, claiming they were working for us. It was obvious it was fraud."
The presidential outcome is expected to be very close, and voter registration fraud could well become this year's hanging chad. If so, it will be an issue that the losing party can seize upon to argue in the courts that the election was flawed.
After the disputed 2000 presidential election, new federal rules were supposed to ensure that registration lists were more accurate and current. Congress passed the Help America Vote Act in 2002, requiring every state to have a computerized statewide registration list that would be instantly updated with each new registration.
But 37 states have failed to meet the new standards and sought waivers from the federal government, said Rebecca Vigil-Giron, secretary of state in New Mexico and president of the association that represents other secretaries.
"A lot of states do not have good data systems," she said.
California officials are relying on an older registration computer system but hope to have a new list by 2006 that complies with federal law. It will cost $40 million to implement, said Tony Miller, special counsel to the secretary of state.
Many state officials acknowledge that their systems and laws need to be tightened. Under Oregon law, for example, outside organizations can hire temporary workers and pay them for each new registration. In Nevada, temporary workers may be paid by the hour but not for individual registrations.
"You are creating incentives for fraud if you pay by the signature," said Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury.
In Alabama, counties have a big backlog of last-minute registrations, and discrepancies in the records have left them unsure how many voters are on the rolls. Last week, Anita Tatum, director of the office of voter registration, resigned after she could not explain the discrepancies.
In Ohio, the Republican Party is challenging about 25,000 new registrations. David Beckwith, a GOP spokesman in Ohio, said there were a number of "Democratic front groups" holding registration drives in the region and that "the fraud accusations have been worse than in 40 years."
He said multiple Democratic registration forms were signed "in the same hand," Democratic signatures were traded for "cash or crack cocaine," and a woman's husband, dead for 20 years, was registered in the Cleveland area.
"This has been sloppy and haphazard," Beckwith said.
Liberal groups such as America Coming Together, formed in 2003 with 300,000 donors, amassed a $125-million budget for registering voters, spokeswoman Sara Leonard said. Much of the money flowed down to local organizations that hired temporary workers. Another liberal group, America Votes, a coalition of 33 organizations led by powerful unions and environmental groups, built up a $400-million budget, part of which went to registrations.
Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee (news - web sites) has funded one company at the center of allegations, Voter Outreach of America Inc., which is active in Las Vegas and across the nation. It was set up by Nathan Sproul, former chairman of the Arizona Republican Party.
Mrasek, who is disabled with emphysema, said he and his son spotted a newspaper ad for the Sproul group. The younger Mrasek, who also is disabled and lives with his father at the Daisy Motel, bowed out when he learned the emphasis was to register GOP voters.
His father took the Sproul job, which paid about $8 an hour and allowed workers to go home early with full pay on days they managed to register 18 Republicans.
Mrasek said he was given a written script to ask people whether they favored Bush or Sen. John F. Kerry (news, bio, voting record). To those favoring the Massachusetts senator, Mrasek replied that he was just taking a poll and thanked them for stopping.
But for those who liked Bush, Mrasek offered to register them. "George Bush (news - web sites) really needs your help this election," he said he was told to say.
In predominantly Democratic Las Vegas, however, Mrasek had a hard time finding unregistered Republicans, he said. One day, he registered himself and his son as Republicans to meet his quota, though he opposes Bush's Iraq (news - web sites) policies and plans to vote for Kerry.
Eric Russell, another temporary employee for the project, also alleged that he saw Democratic Party registrations thrown in the trash. With legal assistance from the Democratic Party, he went to court and tried, unsuccessfully, to reopen registration.
Russell, a Republican who now plans to vote for Kerry, also gave authorities a copy of the written sales pitch, which said, in part, "Use your training to find likely Republicans."
Sproul denied the allegations. He said he fired Russell and then sued him, alleging he and the company had been slandered.
"Our goal was to register as many supporters of President Bush as we could. However, we gave very strict instructions to everybody associated with us that we had a zero tolerance policy if anybody was destroying, tampering or altering registration forms," he said, adding that his project turned in more than 500 Democratic registrations in Nevada.
Meanwhile, Republicans say the Democratic registrations submitted by liberal groups are tainted.
Brian Scroggins, chairman of the Clark County Republican Party, said his organization spot-checked some of the new Democratic registration forms and found that "the first three we looked at" carried home addresses that actually were vacant lots.
"Sure we're upset," Scroggins said.
But Sproul also has run into trouble in Oregon, where Secretary of State Bradbury opened an investigation this month into allegations from three Sproul employees that the organization had destroyed Democratic registrations, a felony.
And in West Virginia, Lisa Bragg, the mother of two teenagers desperate for a job, decided against working for Sproul after seeing a written sales script that flatly declared, "The goal is to register Republicans."
"It was dishonest," said Bragg. "I didn't want to hide in the bushes and not sign up Democrats."
An admitted Democrat, she called the pay "dirty money."
With so much acrimony among party officials across the country, local elections officials feel the heat.
"Government officials are certainly under the gun," said Lomax, the Clark County registrar. "Nobody wants to be the next Florida. If you are in a swing state like we are and there is a close vote, there will be litigation."

it is both parties doing it.....both candidates are the same....i used to have confidence in the system till i figured out that it was a rigged game meant to give americans the illusion they vote for the prez.....if it was a true democratic process then the libertarian and constitution party candidates would have been involved in the debates......instead we got a dual press conference....they wouldnt dare do anything that would challenge there grip on this 2 party dictatorship we have shoved down our throats.....and frankly it tastes like shite and im sick and tired of it.....I'M MAD AS **** AND I WILL NOT TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

Join the Constitution Party in its work to restore our government to its Constitutional limits and our law to its Biblical foundation.
It says that right on their website.
What are the unconstitutional laws besides the Patriot act?

What about people who don't believe in God? Kill them? Give me a break. 200 years ago they had a great vision, but it was based on everyday life of 200 years ago. You can't live like you did in the "good ol' days" That's why you have the Osama's running around, because they want it like it was 800 years ago. Outdated concepts, outdated laws, slow to respond to modern issues. Might be the biggest problem we have. God has no business in our laws, period.

The constitution was based on enlightenment ideas, and the problems that the articles of confederation had. SUch as not being able to tax people, raise an army, handle war debts, and other improtant things.
Technicaly speaking, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happisness is stated in the Declaration of Independence, which is not a legal document, otherwise rebellions against the government would be legal.
There is an ammendment to the consitution allowing taxes.
So you think *anyone* should be able to own a gun?
Also, the seperation of powers, is intended to prevent tyranny. Look wahts going to happen if Bush is Reelected. Conservatives will control the Senate, House, White HOuse, and extremely conservatives will be nominated to the supreme court.

Besidies, even there was god giving people rights, why doesnt he intervene in places where people have none?
All of our constitution was based on enlightenment ideas, which is the seperation of church and state, our leaders knew what happened in europe when the state and church are together. Inquisition anyone?

Yeah, I'm learning about the Articles of Confederation, Constituion, and the Bill of Rights, in addition to the federalist papers.
Our rights are granted to us by the people in charge of the government where we live.

You seem to be angry at the local zoning laws:D .
Look at it this way: (Hypothetically) If you were buying a house that was built by a builder on his land, wouldnt you want to know that it followed the laws regarding construction.
As long as you own the entire lake, or your own land, you can hunt, fish, or do whatever you want on it. There are limits though, such as if you wanted to kill every deer that went onto your land. The deer are no ones property, they go from land to land, so you have to follow the laws. Same with fishing on a river. Something is only yours if it only stays on your property.
Most Americans don't know what the bill of rights are. They confuse the constituion and the declaration of independence.

$1.50 for a bottle of water that may or may not be purified
$2.50 for a loaf of bread
$2.30 for a gallon of gas
$80 to see a Bulls game
$100 to see a lions game
Gansta Rap
Death Metal

i think that article sums up our the current state we are in really well, i'm tired of everyone saying how free we are and people going crazy on someone when they bring to light the fact that we are not free at all, i'm not even free from the government watchin/reading this post if they wanted to. I have a friend who is from south africa, about a month ago he was pulled over heading home from the laundrymat when he was pulled over by a cop, the cop approached the car, looked in the back and seen the laundry detergent that my friend had (it was kept in a plastic bag), the cop then pulled out his gun, ripped my friend out of his car, put him on the ground, cuffed and arrested him and was taken to the police station (while never being told why he was being arrested), my friend tried telling the cop what was in the bag but it seems that all the cop needed to see was his dark (you could say middle eastern looking complexion) and a bag of powder was all this cop need to embarass someone and make them go to court about nothing afterwards. keep in mind that this guy has lived all but 3 years of his life in this contry speaks perfect english but the way government controls things now, none of that even matters. This is the world we live in because of the people running the government, no one is free in this country unless your a billionare or named bush it seems.....
Ahhh no offense, but this is all horseshit. You can leave the country when you want, you can buy what you want, you can have any career you want if you work hard enough for it, you can say shitty things about the president and no one touches you, you can have any religion you want, the list goes on. It makes me SICK when people in this country ***** about what they have. You are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy better off than 98 percent of the people in this world. You own a car? Guess what, your in the top 1 percent of the world in wealth. People in this country take what they have for granted, when in reality theyre EXACTLY what theyre complaining about. If you dont like the rich Bush types, guess what, your one to the rest of the world. When I hear people whine they way they do, I want to send their *** to live in Mexico, or the Middle East, or Russia. I knew a girl in high school that had the Mexican flag all over her bag, car, you name it. When we were in government class she bitched about this country and talked up Mexico like it was the greatest place ever. I raised my hand, slowly stood up, and said, "Then go back to Mexico if its so great!" WHY ARE YOU HERE!? Its people like that and Michael Moore (who needs to move to France) that really drag this country down. We live in the greatest country in the world, and YES we ARE free. Hows that for freedom of speech? ;)
BTW, people ***** about the government trying to protect us, then they ***** if the government doesnt. Pretty friggin ironic. Its all C R A P.

Living in this country is like renting a home. You follow the owners rules, such as asking him to add on to the house, or tear out a wall. You pay to live there, and he grants you the home you need. If you dont pay, or if you dont follow the simple rules, then he can ask you to leave. However, hes not there every minute to watch your every move. In that house, you have the freedom you want to practice any religion, or listen to the music you want, etc.... And when you want to leave, you can leave. If you dont want the house anymore, then move out. Its the same with this country. Were renting to live in this great country. If you dont like the rules or the rent, get out. Bottom line. There are other homes with other rules and other costs of rent. Catch my drift?

If you dont pay, or if you dont follow the simple rules, then he can ask you to leave. However, hes not there every minute to watch your every move. In that house, you have the freedom you want to practice any religion, or listen to the music you want, etc.... And when you want to leave, you can leave. If you dont want the house anymore, then move out. Its the same with this country. Were renting to live in this great country. If you dont like the rules or the rent, get out. Bottom line. There are other homes with other rules and other costs of rent. Catch my drift?
you make a great slave deke...congratulations

your wrong i'm not attacking america....i'm attacking the govt. that is looting us and getting us involved in a BS war for profit.....your right we dont think the same....you think that if anyone points out the crimes of the govt. that it is unamerican....america isnt our govt......america is the people and the illegal aliens that live here....so it isnt logical to question the govt. and ask for a redress of grievances? sheesh if the founding fathers thought that way then we would still be subjects of the british crown
The people made their choice. Its obvious what America really wants and thinks. Maybe your right, maybe were all part of one big matrix. If thats the case, then I still prefer the matrix. Give me that other pill ******, lol. Its either America the way it is today, or total anarchy. I cant even imagine a society with no laws. Itd be a hundred times worse than the wild west.

the word anarchy has been been changed to mean rioting in the street....the true meaning of anarchy is lack of central govt. not rioting and looting.....and yes i am for a serious reduction in the size of govt......govts job is too protect the borders.....pave the roads and have a standing army for the defense of the country....thats it.....now the govt. is busy with there nose in our business and it is fascistic and tyrannical
So I take it you consider me a religious fascist now right? Im sure the dems do as they moan and cry in light of their humiliating defeat. Support them or not, and like it or not, your part of that other 48 percent on the wrong side of the majority. Is it unamerican to question the govt? No. Is it unamerican to call them liars, devil worshipers, murderers, and nazis? You **** well bet it is. I can tolerate conspiracies, but this has just gone too far. I really dont understand how someone with your views can tolerate living in this country.

Thats a fact in cloud nine conspiracy land. But here in the mainstream us sheep dont buy it.
Even with all this being said Mob, if I start seeing the govt forcing us to take chips in our hands, or forcing us to support what I consider is immoral, ill be standing right beside you in anger against the govt. Believe me on that. I understand your frustration with certain things this country does. I just dont think calling the govt awful things makes your cause gain steam. You know?
One more question for you. How do you know Michael Badnarik and Michael Paroutka are any different from Bush or Kerry? I looked at Badnarik's views and most of them were pretty whacked out.

first off there was massive election fraud with the voting machines.......kerry really won......but kerry capitulated to bush.....it was a staged election.......im not saying we should have no law....the problem is there are too many laws and a ton of them are unconstitutional or administrative law ran by bureaucrats........your really doing a disservice to your chldren and future grandchildren by just agreeing with the fraudulent govt.....your future offspring and your family will be enslaved....

your right we are all slaves......when the govt. gets loans from the fed. reserve or the imf and world bank what do you think they put up as collateral? the answer is the people ......im not going anywhere this is my country and i intend to fight for it and my family
Fair enough. Maybe we are not completely free in the sense of total freedom to do whatever we want when we want. But you would agree that we are the most free society in the world right? And would you also agree that we have to have some restrictions to freedom to prevent total chaos? Also, do you think anything the govt does is along with what you believe?

the conspiracy of the nwo is real.....they have there tentacles into every country....so there is no where to go.....the people that would be our slave masters are very few........if the people rise up and resist them....then they wont win.....the problem is that people wont see what is happening and just deny it......our country has been dumbed down and are too ignorant to see the truth.....our schools are meant to churn out functional illiterates....we have all taken our iq reductions with the mercury in the vacines......theres flouride and garbage in the water......aspartame is in the food chain.....we have been socially engineered by the elites.....the elites believe in social darwinism....the belief that we are just cattle and that they are better than us and need to rule us for our own good......SO QUIT BEING NIEVE!

it really doesnt matter.....the illuminatti masters will put in who they want as prez they are just puppets.......the election is just a facade to make us feel like we have democracy......we have a 2 party dictatorship
So what do you suggest should be done? BTW, Ill never take the chip no matter how much they propagandize it. :) You believe in the Bible's end times? You know, the mark of the beast, etc.

yes we do have some freedoms this country when it was founded was something new....we had a free market economy that was the envy of the world...all through history we have seen real tyranny, slavery and feudalism......as ben frankin said "those that give up liberty for security deserve and will receive neither" how can the govt. justify tracking and controlling us making us show our papers to travel when the border is wide open.....the illegals are exempt from the ID restrictions we have
the only chaos is when the cops go in and attack peaceful protests and infringe on our right to peaceably protest

and if it cant be done peaceably then its time for battle
Is there anything they do that you agree with? Or are you pretty much completely anti govt? Would you rather have no govt at all?
