We are in the process of adding "Historical Rookies" to Baseball Mogul 2006. This means that if you start in a year before 2004, the rookies for each new season (up to 2004) will be the actual historical players (instead of created at random).

The question is, do you also assume that the league will expand (and teams will move) exactly according to history?

To Anwser your question :YES!

I wouldl like it to be more random thou, but if you add historical rookies, i would like to think that Expansion teams would be added too.

Give users the option of choosing which one they would like.

Sometimes, I would like to recreate history and other times I'd like to keep my universe the way I want it.

Clay, if you look at the league currently there isnt much room left for expansion. I think there should be some sort of pop up screen that comes up randomly and asks the user whether they would like to introduce a new expansion team to the league. That would be clean and easy and would not make the game unweildy with teams if the user didnt want it.

If Expansion and team movement were added to Baseball MOgul, I'd want it to be a little random.. Maybe have, like someone mentioned, a popup asking for expansion teams, then a list of cities for expansion.. The same with movement..

Heck, just putting in automatic expansions period would attract players who left Mogul for OOTP. That's one thing OOTP doesn't have yet.

I think it would be good to have all choices as available options when starting a new game. Some people like to go the completely fictional route.

whilst i think it should be historicial as the default, if it was possible to add either random-ness or user-choice as opinions, that would also be very nice.

This is beautiful this is what I always wanted. However moving historically can be difficult. What to do if a player controls say the 1959 Washington Senators? Does their franchise move to Minnesota or does the expansion Senators go to Minnesota instead?

I think cities should try to lure you to their city, and as the owner you should have the option of shooting down a proposed move, sort of like how Peter Angelos tried to kill the Washington move this year. But it shouldnt be easy to just up and move a franchise either, perhaps we can have city contracts that last 30 years or so. Once those 30 years are up you re-negotiate with the city, perhaps to get a stadium update, or to get a new stadium all together.

You should also be allowed to break the contract if you find it necessary, fan attendence drops below 20,000 for 5 straight years, and other small but all so important stipulations. Id hate to see the game moving the Yankees, Cubs and Red Sox at random just because they were offered a new stadium in another city.

We're playing an entirely new kind of here, maybe we should be thankful for what we're getting already for 2k6

I would say YES at the very least for the post 1990's expansion. I realize that having all the team changes for every year from 1900 might be a bit tedius but the later expansion years I don't think would be too much trouble.

How about realistic user expansion??

What are the chances of having an expansion draft so that you can play as a brand new, created team at the start of the game or at any point. If there is one during the game, you have to decide who to protect from the draft.

At the start of the game it would be great to have the selection of unprotected players and having to decide between them to shape your franchise.

Just an idea, one I belive I raised earlier...
