potential free agents

I was thinking that it would be a big help to teams getting ready for the off season, if there was somehow a list you could bring up of players in a contract year. This way you could see who was currently unsigned. What do you think?

They should build it in to the find players feature, and show the points they want to resign at. It will make much easier and smarter offseason decision making

That would be an excellent option. Currently I just end up going through all of the teams contract pages near the end of the season to see who to shoot for / get a jump. Being able to Find A Player like this would be killer.

Yeah, and how about a little better way to notify another team that you have offered a trade?

On the Trade Notification, we have a couple of ideas:

1) Post a message on the top blue bar (shown on every page) saying "New Trade!"

2) Automatically send an e-mail to the user (at their option)

On the Potential Free Agents:

1) I've thought about showing players on many screens (e.g. Trades, Contracts, Find Players) in bold if they are in the last year of their contract.

2) I plan to add Contract Length to Find Players. So you could to show all players with 1 year contract length and potential free agents would be listed. (Or for example, you could look for all players age 23-25 with 4 or more years on their contract).

3) I also think it's important to add somewhere what a player is SEEKING. At least on the Scouting Report so that you don't have to go to another team's Contracts page all the time while offering trades.

Would you be in favor of also showing the salary a pending free agent is SEEKING on the Trades screen, in addition to their current salary? Or would that make that screen too full?

Clay: I think this is a great idea -- I've lost track of how many times I accidentally traded for a player in the last year of his contract, or (even worse) traded for a player in the last year only to find that he was asking for MUCH more than I had thought he would be.
My carelessness aside, as much information should be crammed into the game as is possible given server restrictions. As long as I can load the pages in a reasonable length of time, I'd like to at least have the option of getting as much information as I can.

I like the idea of a message in the blue bar for trade notification. Maybe have it blink if it is the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time it is being displayed.

I also like the idea of adding contract length to the Find Player screen. The more options that screen has, the easier it will be to taylor to each GM's needs.

Teams stats are also something I'd like to see. It's hard to tell what your team is lacking if you don't know how they measure up in HR's, runs, BB, errors, etc... in relation to the rest of the league. Maybe that could also go on the Find Player screen.

I agree. Team stats are needed. So far, all we have are batting and ERA. I'd like to see some more categories and a ranking.

Finding a FA by years left is a great feature. Can't wait for it. As much info as you can stuff in would be great. Thanks Clay.

On the "players" asking price, would it be possible to have different levels for different teams. ie. Players will sign for nominally less on certain teams due to relationships and/or past performance. Griffey Jr. is an example. I would like to see this.
