I noticed, yes. When the Sox were 10 games behind the Yankees in mid-summer, they were tied in Pythagorean Predicted Winning Percentage. It was a little frustrating. There must be something weird about the Yankees
... they always seem to outperform their projected record. They were +12 last year, +5 (101 actual vs 96 projected) in 2003, +4 (103 vs 99) in 2002, +6 in 2001 (95 vs 89) ... in fact, 1997 was the last year they underperformed their projection. Maybe it's luck or maybe it's something odd about how their team is put together, but it sure seems like there's something going on there.
