Everyone seems to have different opinions on this matter, I wanted to post something here because the last time these questions were talked about it was quite some time ago based on my forum searches.
When exactly do you know when its time to put rookies up in the majors?
If you have a guy that is 74(100) has been in the minors for a couple seasons now, I swear when i got the guy he was not (100) so is that the type of improvement im going to see in the minors rather than seeing the 74 go up? In the Old threads someone did a test in a fast league putting the exact same player in three different spots Minors, Majors, Bench. To see how fast they develop obviously the Minors developed faster and better than the majors in three seasons but not that far off, the guy on the bench did not develop very much.
Is farm spending still as important as it used to be in other words can farm spending be reasponsible for making average guys into very good players?
My thoughts were that a guy would "die" in the minors if left there too long, so when do you know what the optimal time is to put a guy up to the majors so that he will have success.
Some guys say that you just stick a player there in the majors and suffer for one year and they will get substantially better the next, why would you have to do that if you can just judge when they will be good or is there some sort of growing pains built into the system?
Any responses would be good on this.
Thank You
