Q: How many online leagues are there?
Q: Why don't we consolidate so that every team has a manager.
I find that the computer teams are mainly being abused by human managers. For example, managers will sign free agents they have no intention of keeping but instead will trade them immediately to computer teams. The phrase 'it would not happen in real life' is become tiresome.

Right now, we have about 250 leagues. The majority of these are private leagues. We can't take away the option for GM's to create their own leagues. We have not been introducing many new public leagues, as there has been no demand for them.

I agree that human teams abuse the computer teams by signing free agents and trading them to the computer teams..
Is there any way to make a rule that if you sign a free agent, you are not allowed to trade that free agent for at least a year?? That would eliminate signing free agents specifically to trade them, as that is not very realistic.

I believe the program has code to prevent trading a newly signed free agent to a computer team within 1 year of signing.
Please let me know if you have an example of the contrary as I'd like to make sure this works.
(The code won't PREVENT you from doing this, but it will cause the computer to assign no value to the recently signed player).

the phillies in the Baseball mogulers 2 league traded 2 newly signed free agents the same day he attained them. he later did another deal involving another newly signed free agent. i'm not trying to be a rat, but you said you wanted to know of examples of this

another reason why leagues don't fill up is because leauges may only have a few teams left, and the teams will have crappy markets. That's why i like the idea of equalizing everyone's market, so there's no reason to not join the league. I would start up a league like that if there were at least 12 or 15 people willing to join

There is an option to equalize all teams. However, some GM's prefer playing a more realistic simulation, and choose the regular game. Personally, I have had no trouble filling up EML and keeping it full- vacancies usually fill up in a few hours.

It would be good if you could change the tier 5 teams up to tier four, or for the commish to set them up anyway he wants. This way people would take those last few teams because the markets wouldn't be so bad. It should just be listed prominently so everyone knows what the rankings are.
Just a though, maybe it would help fill leagues. Kind of in-between realistic and equalized.

Just wanted to add my two cents to this topic:
People (prospective managers) should realize that taking on a smaller-market team can provide a very interesting challenge and actually be quite fun. Not everyone can finish first and there definitely is a remarkable self-satisfying feeling with knowing that you have (or are in the process of) taking a cellar-dwelling team and changing that around to hopefully a contender one day. A very rewarding feeling, especially when you consider you may have to overcome obstacles like limited (maybe even severely) funds. Anyways, having said that I would also like to add that in my own personal opinion of this also, I doubt that there would be very many individuals willing to take on that task in their first year of "simming".
Food for thought!!

I think there should be a rule on league with less then 4 players. they should have 7 days to get more players or that league will be closed forcing the other players to go into a more popular league.

Well...
Some people really prefer to play in less populated leagues.
Limiting lower populated leagues would really prevent most people from being commissioners, if their leagues don't fill up fast enough.
Simply put, if they pay to be able to run a league, we really shouldn't take that away from them.
Filling up a league isn't really a problem- you need to be innovative with the rules or the format of the league. The key, in my opinion, is to get the league filled up from the start, because it is hard to attract GM's in the later years. Both EML and EML2 both were filled within a day.
Is to do something new and interesting. This will feel up a league quickly...some ideas were the shuffle by dturkenk, "survival" by schafling (league created by lasbuenasnoches) and a full draft league by Kyuss. Think and add something new that nobody has seen and make sure you advertise it. That is the key if you want a full league.
