I've seen this in Madden and a couple other games. Is there a way you could add backloading or frontloading of the contract. This would help finicial challenged team to sign higher profile FAs and would add another challenge. This would help with signing older veterans so If they start diminishing and they have a front loaded contract you won't lose as much money.

I would love to see this also...i like the way that madden does it....also, I believe that Richie Sexson just signed a contract like this....5million 2005, in 2006, like 8million 2007- something like 12million...i dont have the numbers..but this would make it more challenge....also I would like to see front loading of a contract too.
There are a couple of problems with implementing this in Mogul.
First of all in Madden and in the NFL generally, the contracts are not guaranted - except for the signing bonus. If a player signs for 3 years at $4M, $5M and $6M and is cut after the first season, the team doesn't have to pay the remaining $11M.
In baseball, the contracts are guaranteed and if a player signs a 7 year - $120M contract and then their stats drop off ( cf Jason Giambi ) then the team is still on the hook for the rest of the salary. They can't cut their losses and run.
In reality, the teams can vary their salary figures to account for inflation ( or increases in revenue ) but Mogul has a fixed economy. If you can afford to pay a star $10M a season in 2005, you won't necessarily be able to afford to pay them $20M in 2010 ( unless you are the Yankees ). Finances in Mogul stay static.
The other problem is the fact that Mogul has always only had one variable to store salary. A player with a $300K salary signs a new deal in June for $5M a season is suddenly paid $5M from that point when in reality the new deal should only kick in when the season has finished. It should be possible but not until there is a change to how the game handles its data.
