I have Robby Thompson as my starting second baseman and his defense is mediocre at best but sadly he's the only 2B I have and it's just after 97 season. So I switch my bench 3B Bill Mueller to 2B and from the looks of it his predicted defense is better than Thompson's and his offense is definetely an improvement, but after i make the switch mueller's #s at 2B are not nearly what was advertised before I made the switch.

Is this expected like because I don't pay my scouts enough?

No, that's normal. When you change a player, the Baseball Mogul Engine is designed to say that the player is less comfortable at his new position, so therefore will not field as accurately.

I think what Electricbassguy is trying to say is that in the change position screen the numbers were higher than what actually happened. This may be a result of not paying your shouts well but should be expected anyway.

You should just start them at the position you want because after a couple of years it will automatically change them to that position. Like I started a LF at 1B for 2 years and it changed his position to 1B. If it also affects your players fielding and defense stats I am not sure. But I think (<-key word) it works better that way then just flat out switching them.

They should add the abilty to go from P to position player because otherwise if you start in say 1914 Babe Ruth will go his entire career as a Pitcher instead of switching unless Mogul automatically changes that for you I personally have not tried it.

I think players get better at a new position if they are just started there and change naturally. It's difficult to autosort but it's the better way to do it.
