I downloaded the 8.03 patch to my desktop and ran it, but it did not update Baseball Mogul 2006. Instead, it put the files on the desktop. I moved the patch .exe to my Baseball 2006 folder and tried to run it there. When I did, I got a message that BBAutoUp.exe could not be created. I checked the Baseball 2006 folder and it was set to read-only, so I removed that setting and ran it again but the same thing happened. When I looked at the properties of the folder, read-only was set again. I tried a couple of more times with the same result. What do I need to do?

Hmm...are you running XP SP 2?

Yes, I am.

Did you install it on a drive other than C?

My C: drive is a Zip drive. D: is the CD drive. E: is my hard drive, and that's where Baseball Mogul 2006 is installed. (I don't like this particular setup, but that's how the vendor set it up.)

Am I to assume that the patch only installs to the C: drive? If so, can I unzip on the desktop and copy the relevant files to my E; drive?

I'm not sure if 2k6 is like this or not, but I've noticed a lot of companies don't take other drives into account when patching.
It seems with 2k6, you actually have to run it from the installation folder itself.

Yes, you can just copy the unzipped files from your Desktop to your 2k6 folder and the game will be updated. (allow it to overwrite existing files). The patch seems to be nothing more than an executable zip file.

It dosen't seem like it would matter what drive you send it to. Just as long as you have it in the right place and it can find your BBM2K6 folder.

I moved the patch .exe into my Baseball Mogul 2006 folder and tried to run it from there. That's when I encountered the problem I mentioned above. As I said, when I ran the patch .exe from the desktop, the files were unzipped to the desktop.
