I'm playing around with the idea of making a roster. But I was just wondering what you guys were looking for. I was planning on adding all major league players, and 25 prospects to each team. What do you guys balance more to? (See Poll)

I have only been playing the demo and I am growing increasing frustrated with how many teams do not have accurate rosters. As in teams have players in R ball that are really on the 40 man roster. I would really like to see a roster that addresses this, also included would be some tweaking of prospects, but that isn't a big issue to me.

I am looking to purchase the game within the next or two, and would be willing to help out where I can, but it would only be in a limited capacity.

If you download the opening day roster's that liveandletdie posted in the general comments then the rosters are pretty accurate for opening day... The rosters don't include all prospects or a full 40-man roster.

I'm planning to start a 2K6 league, but I'd like to have an updated and edited roster file first. I started making one myself, but **** is it time consuming. I can see why editing all those players took Scorey and Rotochamps like 6 months or however long it was. But to answer your question, I think there are enough prospects and players on each team, they just need to be edited so they're more in line with reality. I would be nice to see a .mog file where the predicted stats are very similar to the actual stats, like Scorey's files were.

If I can be of any assistance, let me know, since if you end up not making a roster, I definitely will.

In Baseball Mogul rosters I look for all top prospects on a teams 40 man, rosters that reflect at least opening day, corrected positions (too many wrong positions on the D-Backs) and attributes that result in more realistic lineups so there aren't so many rookies forcing high priced vetrans into the minors.

I do not know what the intent of the poll is, but the way I actually play BBM is to have 48 batters and near 55 pitchers, a nearly maxed out number of players on my team. this fills up all the minor league teams with 8 batters. the pitchers on the other hand can all be AAA if the check box is checked, and all will accrue innings as if there were fewer pitchers in AAA

As a decade long moguler, I've gotta say, HoustonGM does a very good job ... He pulls his statistical predictions from the most accurate forecasting systems (PECOTA, ZiPS, CHONE) and his prospect ratings from the foremost authorities (Baseball America, John Sickels, Kevin Goldstein) -- thus eliminating personal bias (if you need proof, note how realistically sucky Houston is in his rosters...)

If anyone else wants to make their own rosters, I would encourage it, because it can be a fun way to familiarize yourself with some players you might otherwise overlook ... but I think it would be hard to make one that's better suited for the general Mogul community than Houston has done

and no ... he did not pay me to say that (but I'd gladly except money if he wants to -- paypal only)

I first check to make sure that defenses and batting orders are correct.

It's a relative waste of time for roster makers to do that, considering the AI changes things immediately anyway.
