You all knew that George Bush once owned a Baseball Club.
But in League F, it looks like he's started to play the game! He's a free agent right now:
George Bush
B/C ratings
2nd Season
Seeking 8 points through 2009
Give George a chance to show you what he can do. I think you'll like what you see.

So I looked over the scouting report for G.W.B jr, and this is what it said...
Contact:
A- for Oil Tycoons and Old Money Republicans
C- for decent hardworking folks
F for anyone that's ever shopped at REI or members of the Sierra Club
Power:
A+ inherited, stolen and bought (thanks Jeb!)
Speed:
D- kind of hard to move quickly when you keep walking all over the little people + cowboy boots aren't so good for running the basepaths
Eye:
D- injured recently, moderate chance of permanent damage
Arm:
B could be in the bullpen for my teams, fired a strike in the WS
Range:
D- very limited, runs from lucky SOB to redneck with too much of Daddy's money
Fielding:
B for canned answers we got in the debates
F for anytime he's required to respond insightfully and seriously to a question that his staff hasn't briefed him on. See: Malapropisms
Health:
B- if he stays away from pretzels and the Middle East
Contract:
3 more years at 10 pts a year
P.S. there was an RP named Cy Young in the EML recently

I have a 2B named John Kennedy who plays for my Anaheim team in NABL Shuffle. He is a terrible 2B but he's only 23.
My mother campaigned for Kennedy in 1960 and my Dad missed three days of work following his assassination he was so heartbroken.
So John Kennedy is not going anywhere. He stays on my team in the minors as long as I can afford him and if by a miracle he gets good enough to play he will proudly start at 2B for me.
P.S. Love your post Skydog!
I traded skydog for cy young without even looking at his stats! He ended up having an ERA of 6.50!

... he would be a hall of fame candidate if he could play as well as he handles the presidency. Not that I voted for the guy, but I give him credit for doing an excellent job, and as noted before, nice throw in the World Series! Arm is definitely an A+! So what if he's an F for the Sierra club? He's an A+ for the country!

I wholeheartedly support the way in which Bush has chosen to deal with Al Quaeda and Afghanistan. However, his decision to withdraw from the International Conference on Human Rights in Durban, South Africa was seriously detrimental to the US's stature as an international leader, while his domestic policy, specifically his economic and environmental agendas, has all the vision of fruit bat. And then there's that whole Enron quagmire. If Bush thinks his most difficult days are behind him he is rather mistaken.

Well, this isn't the forum for to address the ridiculous arguments against tax cuts and the maniacal obsession with trying to involve him in Enron. I see your address, no need to explain your position on these things. ;) Let's agree on this, he has the best arm I've seen on a president in a long time! :D

Bush definitely has a better arm than any president in my lifetime! Although rumor has it that Teddy Roosevelt threw a wicked splitter and was not above playing the occasional chin music to batters that crowded the plate, no matter the size of their stick.

If i'm not mistaken, the reason the United States decided to pull out of the International Conference on Human Rights was because of all the anti-semetic statements that were being thrown around. You can't possibly think the biggest supporter of Israel is going to stand for that do you?

I'm trying to understand you here, HiGuy_Cal, so bear with me...
When someone offers an opinion or interpretation concerning an event of considerable importance that I really disagree with, I don't walk away. Just the opposite. I try to understand the motivation and thinking behind their point of view and I try to engage them in a dialogue so that we can reach a mutual accomadation. Sometimes it's possible, sometimes not, but the important thing is to try. The US under Bush has taken an increasingly isolationist stance that I disagree with. I think that one of the reasons we find ourselves so hated in the Middle East is that US Foreign Policy has been skewed in a pro Israeli fashion for far too long. Read the excerpt from CNN. I agree wholeheartedly with the first statement, but I think that the statement concerning Zionism is obviously over the top. The fact remains that the US could have done more to repair the situation in the Middle East by participating in the conference and working to bring the disparate sides together than it could by packing up and going home. As the only true global super power, I think we really dropped the ball on this one.
Here's the clip from CNN:
"The United States and Israel walked out of the World Conference Against Racism on Monday to protest a draft of the conference's final declaration that denounced "practices of racial discrimination against the Palestinians as well as other inhabitants of the Arab occupied territories" by Israel and said Zionism "is based on racial superiority."

a tax cut is a great thing...and for all you who are complaining that it helps the rich need to understand that the rich are the one's who pay the most taxes and create jobs...you need tax cuts to stimulate the economy...i think he's doing a great job...i shutter at the thought of Al Gore as president during this time of crisis...after the 8 years of clinton i think we needed a president like GWB!

It boggles the mind to think that there are people out there that are against a tax cut. The government wastes so much of our money, I don't think we should allow them to have more of it. When I see a guy like Ted Kennedy get up there and propose that tax cuts be cancelled in the middle of an economic down turn, I have to try and figure out what this guy is up to because he's proposing something that would make the economy worse. Well, he fools enough people and brings home plenty of pork to get re-elected every year.
Here in NJ we now have a Democrat as governor. No big surprise that he wants to raise taxes. They want even more of my paycheck. Incredible.

Yes, but more interestingly, Cleveland has got George Bush batting DH, 3rd in their lineup!
Year AVG OBA SLG
2008 .215 .318 .379
2007 .289 .383 .420
Career .267 .364 .408
And according to my scouts,
Bush has been an important part of the Indians offense this year. Playing in 21 of Cleveland's games, George has belted 3 homers and knocked home 10 runners. This kid has a strong future, but it's not here yet. Give him time.

He might have a strong future, but his past is weak and his present is middling at best (and only his handling of 9/11 saves it from being lumped into the weak category as well). And BTW, I voted for Bill Bradley, the only presidential candidate ever to shut down the Big 'O'..., although McCain and some campaign finance reform would have been nice.

i bet that wouldn't have stopped somebody we all know from taking $ from the Chinese to sell them missile technology...what a disaster that could turn out to be....also he also took $100,000 from enron shortly after that they got their company in India...i guess that was just a coincidence...oh and let's not forget the campaign contributions from that budhist temple...GW is doing a great job...

Not to dis Bill Bradley, but when I hear the phrase "Shut down the Big O" I expect it to be followed by "Sorry honey -- That 's never happened to me before!"

See what you did James? No matter what, everyone has an opinion when it comes to politics, even in Baseball Mogul. You could try to move this to a seperate board for just political talk, but I'm sure that it would overload the servers and take the game down with it in less than a week!:D

I am sorry but cutting taxes when the government owes trillions to banks and has a projected loss of a few hundred billion. And the whole admistration is in with enron is not a good president. He takes the job as a joke. not serious enough.

You better get over to the Congressional hearings fast, because you have information that doesn't exist anywhere else! "The whole admistration is in with enron" is pretty exclusive info, since every scrap of evidence so far indicates that Enron got no favors from the current administration.
Not serious enough??? What are you looking at??? The guy takes his job very seriously, no partying with interns in the oval office during this administration.
...and, whoever claimed to teach you economics should be slapped!

I think president bush has done a greeeeeeeat job in dealing with the "axis" of evil. as well as dealing with china. 1 year ago he said china was the bigest threat to the US. He has visited china 2 times since he said that. He also said other things that i wont even go into becasue it is verry confusing. He was the most contested president ever. Take away 9-11 his approval ratings would ahve gone from bad to worse.
To the comment about taking the job seriously enogugh he takes the longest vacation ever by a presdent.
I also have to say that his whole family takes everything for granted. His neice tries to get drugs pretending to be a doctor. he was suposedly on crack or cocane or what ever at one point in his life. he got a degree from yale ONLY after being a president and most of the students opposed him for that. I think he takes everything as a joke.

He takes the longest vacation by a President = he doesn't take the job seriously? I hope I am not stating the obvious, but you must be aware that a President on vacation is not really on vacation at all, right? They all work while they are on "vacation".
His approval rating has stayed high, unlike other politicians whose ratings dropped way down, like Daschle's around 36%, after a few months. This leads me to believe that his ratings would not have "gone from bad to worse". I don't even know what that statement is based on. When was it even "bad"?
He got his degree after being President? He received a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. I'm pretty sure he got these before he was in the White House. He is the only President to have an MBA.
As for his family, those people are responsible for their own actions, he is not.
It seems that a lot of people are unwilling to accept that he has done an excellent job as President, which is incredible compared to the disgrace that besumdged the White House for the previous 8 years. I guess bias dies hard.

Who do you think would have won the election in 2000 if Dubya's brother was not in charge?
For one thing it wouldnt have been george.

It's been established that George W. Bush won the election. What was done improperly or against the law? I know Gore tried to have the votes of our military personnel overseas disqualified, I wonder how they felt about that.
I noticed you didn't address my last post, and just decided to move on to other things. I think if you examine his policies and performance objectively, you will agree he is the best man for the job. After all, I actually voted for Gore. I am so glad he didn't get elected though, hind sight IS 20/20.
I had a real problem with the Democrats after Bush spoke about returning our money because of the surplus, then Daschle & Gephardt came on after words, with their smiling faces, trying to convince me that they should keep my money. They must think that they are dealing with morons. I really took offense to that garbage and realized that they are all about taxing & spending money frivolously.

the woman caught on tape handing out cigarettes for people to vote for the democrats....the booze handed out , the federal prisoners in florida who voted...it's too bad that we went so long without a president, seeing that jordan offered to turn over bin laden and "slick willy" said no thanks...maybe this whole mess would have been avoided:mad:
