I am once again seeing a lot of randomness in the playoffs. There does not seem to be any correlation once more to your team pitching and your team fielding a problem which was corrected to my satisfaction a while back with improvements to starting pitching perfomances in the playoffs.
Is this true? Has there been a change in the game engine in the last week or two or is it just a coincidence that all of a sudden my teams with the lowest ERAs out of all 30 teams in their respective leagues are all suddenly losing in the first round of the playoffs?
I suspect there has been some sort of change because for a while there the top three pitchers in the minors started the last three games of the season if you clinched early and now this does not always happen anymore. The formula for starting pitching at the end of the season suddenly seems more compliucated.
I have talked to some managers who are very well respected in BBMO and they also see an increased randomness creeping into the playoffs once again which disturbs them.
I know some patches were made to the game designed to make starting pitching more effective in the playoffs. Is there any chance such changes were inadvertantly or deliberately removed due to recent changes in the game engine?
My point is if resting your starting pitchers to make sure they are not overpitched in the season and making sure you have great starting pitching and other strategy decisions make no difference in the playoffs due to excessive randomness then what's the point?
This is a sports strategy game and it seems to me that good gameplay should be rewarded with good results. Excessive randomness in the playoffs with the aim of keeping all the managers in the playoffs happy by giving them a roughly equal chance to win is neither good for the game nor good for the long term survival of the business as it will eventually get rid of the hard-core gamers who will stick with the game the longest.
Once again as usual whatever info Sports Mogul has on this subject would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime and once I get my computer fixed I intend to ask even more managers if they are seeing this problem too.
