New Twins Ownership is Announced

By JIM BLAKE, columnist

Minneapolis, Mn - Twins officials announced the sale of the Minnesota Twins to Minneapolis businessman Keith Hiljus for a reported $37.5 million dollars last evening.

The sale of Mr. Griffith’s Twins marks the end of an era for Major League Baseball. Calvin Griffith,
baseballs “last dinosaur,” began his baseball career at the age of twelve as a batboy for his uncle’s team,
the Washington Senators. After the death of his uncle in 1955, Mr. Griffith became president of the
Senators. Facing little public support and a financial crisis, the Senators moved to Minnesota to become
the Twins prior to the 1961 season. Griffith’s clubs won back to back Western Division titles in 1969
and 1970 with the pinnacle of his success coming in 1965 when the Twins won the American League
pennant but then fell to the Dodgers in the World Series.

A news conference is expected within the next day by Mr. Hiljus as he will lay out his plans for the team.
