Here are the top 5 improvements I'd like to see in Mogul in the future, everyone please add your own Top 5 or comment on mine.
1. Improved Trading Block
I'd like to see a central Trading Block, where you can see all the palyers currently marked as available, preferably rankable by either you or automatically. A 4th rating, something like "Want to trade immediately" could be instituted, and these players would appear first.
2. More Contract Extensions
I like the change from a while back where you can release a player for half the cost, although it's not realistic it's better for the game. However, I'd like to see both a more realistic and more extensive contract extension model. I'd like to be able to extend players at any point in their contracts, instead of paying my young star a pittance for 5 years and then ahving him demand 20 million a year. This would actually be realistic (assuming it was implimented well) as this has been the key way teams like the early-mid 90s Indians ensured long-term success, by locking up young players early.
3. Minor League Service Time
Players in Mogul accrue service time in the minors, as opposed to real baseball. Teams can keep players in the minors up to 6 years before they become free agents, plenty of time to evaluate them. In Mogul, teams are forced to bring their young players up early, or lose productive years. This is a severe hindirance to small-market teams.
4. Stat Tracking
This is going to emcompass a couple things, but the basic idea is the same: More Information. I understand why we can't see stats for every season of a players career (I assume not enoguh space on the servers), but I'd like to at least be able to see AAA performance from the previous year, in order to judge young players better. The Find Players screen should let you search by OBP, SLG and OPS, instead of the current restrictive system. I'd like a Team Totals screen, with all the stats for the 30 teams on one page (San Diego's BA, OBP, SLG, etc). This is less important, but would be nice to have
5. Minor League Pitching
I'm not sure exactly what hte problem is, code-wise, but what I do know is that young pitchers hardly ever pitch well in the majors, and minor league pitching statistics seem to be completely unrealiable. Freddy Garcia, Kerry Wood, C.C. Sabathia, Mark Buehrle, according to Mogul they don't exist. Pitchers seem incapable of pitching in the minors before they hit 24 or 25. In NPL Again, not a single starter 25 or younger had pitched 300 innings of 4.50 ball. Good young pitchers often don't develop into good older pitchers, but at least they exist.
That's it, bring on the flames
