they should have a new rating for players. One that would show fan appeal. Just like in real life, some people are more willing to go see certain players than to just attend random games. Like the year when Big Mac was chasing 61, people were going bananas to see him in action.

I've thought about this too -- a "fan-appeal" rating is a good idea. It could start totaly randomly, and it could improve as a player did certain feats (beat a record, or just overall hall-of-fame career) Look at Cal Ripken Jr. The only reason he was still on a major league roster by the end of his career was the fact that he brought fans into the ball park.

That's an interesting suggestion.

The game already takes player appeal into account when it calculates attendance at your games. Try releasing all your stars sometime, and watch your attendance plummet!

So it might be worthwhile to make it more explicit and include it on the players scorecard.

I'll suggest it to Clay, although we may not have time to get it in before the next version...

yeah, i sort of noticed that when a player tries to rebuild by trading away his stars, his attendance also drops, but i thought that was because the teams record usually plummeted first. Thanks for listening and replying.

Clay pointed out that it could bring up sticky licensing issues.

What player wants his Appeal listed as F, after all?

We'll look into this more, and tread lightly...

What about players that would scare players away like Carl Everett or John Rocker.
How can the Red Sox call their park "Fiendly Fenway". or what about John "Loudmouth" Rocker. He certenly kept people away. I think the teaxas rangers should be renamed the Texas Nuthouse becasue of
1. Owner signing a-rod for 5 million more than the next offer.
2. Putting all the money this off season into unproven players.
3 Aquiring John Rokcer.
4. Hiring John Hart as the GM
5. Trading for Carl Everett.

I think the snow in texas this winter went to Harts head. Or it could be becasue the Texas heat over time.
