(Starts in 1939)
-Prior to 1939, baseball had rocked along at a fairly steady pace. Then along came the national pastime's centennial year, and things changed in a hurry, providing a jump start to the game's second century. The landmark events of that one year included:
• Baseball on television
• Every big league team on the radio
• Creation of Little League Baseball
• Opening of the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown
• Active movement towards racial integration
In the midst of these major changes were some of baseball history's biggest heroes, each of whom had focal-point years in 1939:
• Lou Gehrig
• Ted Williams
• Joe DiMaggio
• Bob Feller
• Satchel Paige
Because 1939 was such an important year in baseball history, I decided to create a league that would recreate 1939 and every year past it. If you have any interest in joining please email chriscastig@gmail.com. Thank you for your interest.
