I am in Fastsim 13 and free agency just started. So far I have had the game record bids for players that I did not bid on, and incorrect amounts for others. For example, I made a bid of something like 55 points for 5 years over top of Oakland's bid on the same player of 69 points for 1 year. When the screen refreshed, the bid was 71 points for 5 years with the option to sign the player. In 2 cases where the game showed bids for players I did not bid on, they were the player listed directly below one I actually bid on. Also there seems to be several players missing. I have done a search and the players are simply gone. They are not free agents and are not on any team. All of these players were to be free agents. Where did they go?

In the other Baseball Mogul games players just "left the game of baseball." Not retired, just vanished. Perhaps they went to play in Japan.

there is some seriously screwed up stuff in free agency. I have also found players that i just resigned to mysteriously have their contracts need renewing again.
Every thing mentioned above i have noticed also.

This is simply because only the top 140(70 pitching, 70 hitting) free agents will be shown. The others that have "vanished" have retired early. If you want to keep a person on your team, resign him before the season ends. For a young prospect free agent from a different team, there's nothing you could do to sign him once you see he's vanished.

its not that, so many big free agents were not included. I can't see all these 30 year olds retiring.

Same thing in Fast Sim1. I couldn't resign a couple of players do to my team being in debt, but when I went to check were they went they were gone. Both were 30/31 and coming off of great seasons. Can't believe they just retired...

Same in fastsim 15. I bid for Tomko and it registered the big for Moyer who was right below him. I bid for Collier and it registered the bid for Mullhall right below him. Moises Alou and Bobby Higginson disappeared after their team didn't resign them. This sucks I am afraid to make bids now because I will end up with grubs below the guys I want.

Hi, guys-

Sorry you are having problems. I've forwarded this thread to Ian for him to review. Maybe he can figure out what's going on.

These Pull-down menus on FA's don't work correctly. Trying to offer a young player the same contract, but for less years (as is his wont), it adds a point to the amount offered. This seems completely endemic, as any offer changing the number of years offered, whether you offered it or a competitor, seems to result in raising the offer, at whatever number of years you offered. I don't mind that as much as I mind the pull down being completely inaccurate...

(fastSim 16) I was also credited with making an offer to a player I never offered. I was credited with offering to Jack Cressend, who apparently replaced Carl Pavano when Pavano was signed by Colorado. (I had been bidding on Pavano)

Further, I must say it is somewhat frustrating to see this wierd unknown free agents up and down the list, but guys who weren't offered by their team (just a quick look at headlines revealed players like Rod Beck, Jeff Shaw, Mike Lansing, Troy O'Leary, etc.) becoming free agenst, and yet they are nowhere to be found. Wouldn't it be better to include REAL players in free agency rather than crappy fictional players? It also makes it hard to guage offering. Do I bid up RP Matt Morris, or wait and see if Jeff Shaw or Beck (at less money) are available (later, as the list shrinks) at less/shorter terms (which older players generally seek). The possible permutations, of course, are endless.

FA is probably my least favorite part of your online sim due to these shortcomings, along with what I find to be a difficult if not downright unwieldy interface....

More free agency comments:

It seems there is a tendency in the game to credit the player who replaces the player you signed with a bid. This is not disastrous, of course, because you would still have to sign the player.

My big complaint is (fast sim 16) that the computer team went and signed everyone of the good FAs, and signed them for what they wanted, I might add. And when I say all of them, I seriously mean all of them. The team now has a 714 payroll, about 500 over budget. They spent 50 in Lieberthal and 70 on Glaus alone. I wouldn't mind some of the players on their squad and would trade for them, but since they signed them to what they wanted, which, INCIDENTLY, is far more than the market would bear, I can't afford to really trade for any of them (I'm chicago and already over budget from my own free-spending ways). What the **** is this team going to do, esp. as those stars (which their market obviously can't sustain) are signed to LONG-term contracts? At least if you are going to have the team bankrupt itself, you should have them do it with short-term contracts (which they did in signing a slew of pitching prospects.)
