Mayor Nagin again. He said that rather than save them, he'd rather have them shot. The news channels (I heard it on Fox, CNN, MSNBC etc.) all played that mayoral response to the animal groups wanting to come in and rescue the strays.

Umm you say the troops are shooting dogs, but the you say the sherrifs are doing it?? Why do you hate our troops so bad?

Shooting those animals is the humane thing to do.. I love um to but I do not want to see them suffer by starving to death. :(

so you think this is ok? not only did they blow the levee on purpose and forcibly evac'ed these people to detention centers and would'nt let them take there dogs.....and now the authorities are killing there dogs.....that is total BS!.....i used troops to mean all the cops, 82nd airborne , the hired killer mercs, and the natl. guard......i do believe gen. honore ordered his troops to rescue and feed the animals.....the natl. guard were most humane ....and yes i said sherriff's were doing it.....if a dog attacks then yes shoot it.....those dogs were so happy to see a human and all those humans did was shoot them

I think the humane thing to do would have been to just let them all go if you can't take them or feed them. They'll find food for themselves and be fine.

i think the deal is that the skull crackers are bored and they think its fun to shoot peoples dogs.....and they also get the disinfo of shots fired from snipers at the cops when in truth its the damm cops running around shooting dogs and gators and whatever or whoever else they want too

On the dog issue itself, obviously if a dog's attacking you or someone else, you don't really have a choice. These Sherrif Departments seem to not really care though.

If you want people to start to even remotely start taking you seriously, you need to recognize distinctions like that, and not lump different things together, and also to be clear about it from the start. Otherwise, the discussion gets totally sidetracked on secondary issues. For example in this thread instead of the discussion being about what should be the proper way to handle pets in a situation like this, it just becomes an argument about who is actually doing the shooting.

King, that we actually needed to ADD this as a reason is just stupid. We should have gone back the instant that he (Saddam) broke those agreements that were signed at the end of Desert Storm/Shield. We were more than justified in removing this dictator from his throne. Just 'cause slick willie had too many of his own problems to do it correctly, doesn't make it wrong for Bush to do it.
