Gigi "Eye of the Tiger" Vondergroeben retired today after an illustrious 27 seasons in the big leagues. Coming in and playing right away as a 17-year old rookie, she gave fans a glimpse of greatness from the start. Gigi absolutely smashed the all-time record for walks, formerly held by Barry Bonds, by more than doubling-up on the previous mark. With nearly 4000 runs scored she tore down another Barry Bonds mark by 1500 runs. The most impressive statistic of Vondergroeben's career may be her smashing Ted Williams' career OBP mark by over 70 points!
In addition to winning Rookie of the Year in 2056, Gigi has finished her career with 22 All-Star games, 6 MVP awards, and 5 Gold Gloves. Her contributions will be missed greatly by the Milwaukee Brewers organization, as a player of her caliber only comes along once in a lifetime.
