A call by President George W. Bush for Congress to give him the power to use the military in law enforcement roles in the event of a bird flu pandemic has been criticized as akin to introducing martial law.

I get the feeling that CNN "edited for space" some of the finer points of this bit. I cannot imagine any sitting president asking for the military to fight disease and enforce quarantine. On the other hand it's 2005 and our presidents often lack everything but the cash to get the job. I think that TIGHTER BORDERS, as most U.S. citizens seem to want, may be the most effective means of fighting this sort of thing. I'd be all for putting the military on the border, and in airports to enforce immigration and visa laws.

dont believe the propaganda ....for one its a bird flu.....how is federal troops threatening to shoot us if we leave our houses going to stop the birds from flying around?

the govt. is evil and corrupt.....its just fact......sticking your head in the sand and ignoring it doesnt solve anything.....the prez is wanting martial law because someone might get the flu?? how is a bunch of thugs shoving machine guns in your face supposed to save you from some govt. engineered flu....they went and dug up a fat whaler in alaska who died in the 1918 outbreak to get the virus so they could reconstitute it......how is this not engineered on purpose.....

The question I asked of you is why you brush off a statement by the Pres. stating his willingness to adopt marshall law as not important enough to post.Since you always look for something to degrade the pres. (remember the Aggies hand gesture you called satanic??) But any supposed news worthy story you Prison planet post is gold and facts!!

But Bush is gonna have to wait in the docket for Clinton to be tried on perjury, treason, adultury (sp?), and at the least, ethics violations. I'm sure that if I put some thought into it I'd be able to come up with a few dozen more for each and every president going back as far as Kennedy.

But I have to get a camera and make sure it's charged and carry it around. If I take notes I can just carry around a pad and leave it for you under the sink at the YMCA where all the other guys leave their notes for you.

Did you think of this: you have to make sure you have your pencil sharpened, and you might want to carry a sharpener in case of it breaking. You know there's going to be a lot of things happeneing that could make your pencil break. If you use pen, make sure you bring more than 1 in case 1 doesn't want to work. Also, if it's the end of the world, I'm sure it will be dark, what happens if you bring a black pen? Would blue or red be better?
