I am looking for info on what happens in the following cases
1) what happens if you are first in Scouting and Farms for 2/3 of the season---then a couple of teams make changes in the last third of the season--they get ahead of you and you end up say 3rd and 4th...........is it pro-rated somehow? If I am first in my Farming for most of the season do I get the best draft picks? Or is it something you have to do for even longer than one season?
2) If you are in the bottom third in your league in scouting---does it give bogus info? If you are in the top 5--is it the most accurate?
3) Does taking all of your points and put it in scouting during the FA season help any? It seems to change the ratings...

Hi, Tealc -
Sorry we missed your post the first time around. I usually answer posts by clicking "Read New Posts" then scan for questions etc. Unfortunately, if I miss one, then I don't normally see it again until it gets bumped up.
So to answer your questions:
1.) The rank you can see (1st - 30th) is where you stand relative to the other teams on the amount you are spending. But there is another number (hidden) which is how you are actually performing. The performing number changes over time, based on a weighted average of your spending rank over the course of the season. So even if you dropped your spending to 0 in the last two weeks, you would still have decent scouts since it takes time for all your scouts to quit and go to other teams.
And I wouldn't worry too much about whether you are 1st or 4th. The 1st place teams don't automatically get the best players; they just have a better chance of getting the best players. Even the 30th ranked team will get good players some of the time.
I'm not sure how long it takes for your hidden score to settle down after you change your spending, but if you were 1st for a whole season, I'm sure that would be long enough.
2.) Yes. If you have bad scouts, then the scouting reports will be less accurate. This affects the letter grades and the written report of the player's abilities. But even the worst scouts are seldom off by more than a full letter grade.
If you use the Auto-Sort button a lot this matters even more. Your Auto-Sort coach bases his decisions on the reports from the scouts. So if you have bad scouts, you might end up with an inferior player starting, and a great player on the bench.
3.) No, the money you spend in the off season will not change the quality of your scouts. Scouts do change their opinions slightly from month to month, and players improve and decline over time. So these things could change the scouting reports you see.
Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for playing!

TY for the reply
I guess My only question now is---- Does this statistical placing start from scratch every season---or is there any residual effect?

Yes, it is residual.
You begin the season right where you ended the last season.
