i'm just curious, when are there plans to update the rosters and salaries to the current state. Like when someone starts a new league and doesn't have to do it themselves.

Currently we have about 30 volunteers helping us update our player database with all the 2001 stats and trades.

When the database is ready, we will make it available for BBMO.

I am not certain, at this point, whether the current database will still be an option at that time. We are exploring the issues of having multiple player databases, and we'll keep you posted.

Eeek!!

You are creating the new database by hand? Wow, it seems to be me that given a list of compiled stats (especially since there are no left/right splits in this game) that it should be relatively easy to programmatically generate 90% of the database.

I think multiple databases would give things a bit more flavor - right now every league starts with the same players and I am getting a bit tired of seeing them over and over and over again. Being able to pick which database to use when starting a league would be good.

While I am in wishful thinking mode I would like to see historical databases (especially from years like 1986, 1976, 1967 :-).

Ditto. I would LOVE to take the '86 Mets for a season.

Maybe we could let commissioners upload their own database...I know some people have created historical DB's.

That would be wicked cool...but probably a programming nightmare.

With the new baseball weekly out than there should be no problem updating those players. If there are 30 people that should take how long? One person for each team. The Baseball weekly has the 40 man rosters, projected line up, and the minor league stats.
Then you could also but the updated stats inc. projections into the computer and presto! All would be ready for typing in. (But that would take 3 or 4 hoursa team.)

Another question. Will there be an option for contraction and noncontraction becasue i am totally against it in any way unless the yankees are elimanated :) :D

Just an FYI...Stats Inc. charges an incredible amount for commercial use of their stats. It's taken a while because not only do the volunteers need to enter stats, they need to do the player ratings so the team plays as they are projected to. So if the Met's starting rotation is projected to be Leiter, Estes, Astacio, Trachsel, and D'Amico, we need to make sure the autosort does that, instead of like Dicky Gonzalez, Grant Roberts, Al Leiter, Bruce Chen, and Armando Benitez.
