Pacers' Jackson calls ban on chains 'racist statement' (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2197001)

I don't even know where to start.

Pick a card, any card. Whoaaaa there young fella, that's the race card! What an IDIOT! So what? dont wear your chains for a few hours. I don't wear my leather jacket anywhere near work, it's not the image I want to present to my employer, and it's not the image he'd want me to portray to his clients (or mine for that matter). How is it that these jack@sses keep on showing up everywhere? Oh yeah, the NBA keeps on hiring kids who never get to learn how the grownups in the real world percieve them and expect them to conduct themselves. Now the NBA is having "image problems" over the very image that they were only too happy to promote only a few years ago. Oh well, as long as they're putting up a street ball image, and since they promoted the "inner city" image so well I am only too happy to watch the real thing with AND1. I spend my money on Baseball (any league will do it's all fascinating for me) and NHL goods. Both of them have thier issues with image but nothing like the ignoramuses the NBA puts out there. NBA stars telling people cr@p like "don't rat on drug dealers" and stupidity like this "protest" drive me further and further away from caring if there continues to be "pro" basketball.

Maybe they should strike lol. I went without hockey for a year I can miss a few years of the NBA. And the NBA players don't have a lucrative alternative like the NHL'ers did.

Oh god could you see LeBron and all these young guys playing for pennies in Europe. It sure would be fun to see them get schooled by the AND1 guys :D

And especially after the accusations of SURPRISE!!!! racism!!!! some of the NBA's stars have levelled at the NBA for hiring European (read white European) players. I'm guessing that these clowns would come home looking like hockey players if they pulled this cr@p in Europe. No one would probably care to hear their whining over there. They'd be collecting splinters in thier spoiled little tushies for this kind of behavior. :D

I think the only major sport safe from a prolonged walkout is Baseball because they're the only one which could completely recover almost instantly. Football has a pretty extensive "minor league" system and even though it's not a slave system it would still come back pretty quick I'd imagine.

I could live with more hockey in basketball's absence. :)

Maybe they could start televising college hockey.

We get some of that here already. Maybe more of the different minor leagues too. I'd like to see Hartford's Wolfpack and some of the others.

There's a lot of teams in or near MA. Providence Bruins are the best local minors. They're Boston's top minor league team. Hartford, Worcester, Springfield (I think) and several other cities also have pro hockey.

Guess we're kinda spoiled on Cape Cod. Lots of pro sports nearby. Cape League Baseball all summer too. :)

All I've got around here is the one hockey team. The closest baseball team is the Cubs A club in Peoria 100 miles away. I'd rather just go see Milwaukee.

Milwaukee is still considered a pro team??????? ;)

1. they finished .500 this year
2. I did think about driving 100 miles to see an A club before thinking about Milwaukee.

Well being as I've been up almost 24 hours I'm going to shower and try and get some sleep. I'll probably be on in about 8 hours because I'm insane. Also, aren't there usually more people on about now?

I totally agree with your comments. i for one stopped following the NBA around the time Jordan won his first championship. I long for the Magic,Bird and isiah thomas days. I call it the pre-thug time in the NBA. Oh ya and the players then knew how to shoot high % shots and play defense. Now and for some time its nothing but poor shooting, fast break and no defense. Except for the Pistons who have built a quality team over the years under GM "Bad boy" joe dumars. but overall the NBA has sucked for atleast the last 10 years or so and hopefully Stern is finally taking a step toward improving there image and maybe some day the play will go back to the way it was as well.maybe if the players would practice more shooting and less tattooing and bling they might play better!!

HAHA these NBA players are such a joke I just heard kobe almost mocking iverson. Remember when Iverson got in trouble for missing or showing up late for practice. All he could say to the media was "Were talking about practice man...practice...Why we talkin about that?"

Kobe was just saying "we are talkin about cloths man...cloths.."

these guys had to grow up with no fathers in there lives! to be this stupid

My favorite line would have to be from that retired idiot c:Patrick Ewing

Responding to the NBA charity games for the striking players " ya we make alot of money...but we spend alot too"

I'd love to see the NBA franchises start a minor league system where thesE guys could at least have a chance to grow up a little bit before they are unleashed on an unprepared public. How many people are driven away by this kind of stupidity? I swear that I actually watched two Celtics games last year almost in their entirety too. Now I'm probably done for the year. That two was also two more than I'd seen in the previous 8-10 years. I don't want to see these guys jogging back and forth, dunking occasionally, taking easy shots that are mostly undefended. I want to see B-ball like it was when there was defense and game plans. I hate this NBA

Wait. the Providence Bruins are Boston 's top minor league? most people on this site won't call you on that but the guy from Providence is gonna have to ask you to stop taking credit for Rhode Island 's top minor league team. actually, maybe second best to the Pawsox. whatever

Well if you're going to get technical about it......... The Providence Bruins ARE the Boston Bruins top level minor league team. And yes there is also the Pawtucket Red Sox franchise in Pawtucket. The conversation was more non baseball so I left out the Paw Sox. The Paw Sox are (imo) the best, local to my geographical area, AAA International League team. There ya satisfied now?
