In some of the leagues I have been in, I noticed changes at free agency. Players have gone missing. In one of the leagues I am in now, Magglio Ordonez of the White Sox was supposed to be in free agency but he wasn't in his category. I figured the GM of the White Sox signed him to an extension, but he didn't. When I looked up his name in FIND PLAYERS, only Rey Ordonez showed up. This has happened with Troy Glaus, and other big time players. What is up with this?

They went to play in the Japanese Leagues.

There are other threads describing the missing player syndrome. Keep a look out on milk boxes for them.

The developers are looking into it, but it happened in the offline version of the game as well.

in one of the leagues i am in, i checked oiut the free agents available. And i saw Pat Burrel at the veryu bottom of the list. So Since i was in debt i released several players to free up cap space, and when iwent back to chekcon him , he was gone. What happens is the player desappears from the free agent list and doesn't come back.

There is only room for 70 players in free agency.

When a 71st player becomes available, the worst player on the list (as determined by the computer) retires or goes to play in Japan. He never comes back.

Bear in mind that a player who is getting old but who commands a sky-high salary may decide to retire, because nobody wants to pay him the big bucks any more.

However, due to player input, Clay has been tweaking the AI lately so that the superstars are less likely to retire just because they want a lot of money. They still can retire, but they won't always be the first ones out the door.

Cheers,
James

Troy Glaus isn't that old. So, it is not just older players retiring. And, why would he just dissappear, and not even make himself available to any offers at all. I've seen this happen in multiple leagues. Young all-star level players at the top of their game just dissapear after the season is over.
