View Full Version : Idea for new feature.....

Id like to see teams have the ability to adjust the ticket price and broadcast policies for each game. I hate having to lower my ticket prices when I am playing bad teams and having to go back in an hour later to make sure I raise prices to maximize profits while hosting my division rival.
Even if its a pain to program this for each and every game, how about being able to adjust it on a per team basis.... so essentially a GM can fine tune his ticket price and broadcast policies according to what team he is playing (games against the brewers and games against the yankees generally have a HUGE difference in attendance).... of course you could just override this altogether if you dont want to deal with it, but a think alot of the good GMs out there would benefit from this feature.... maybe like a radio button that allows you to chose between "Basic" and "Advanced/Per Team"... "Basic" being same ticket/broadcast policies for every game and "advanced" being adjustable ticket/broadcast policies on a per team basis.
Feedback from anyone? I personally would love this option when dealing with both low and high budget teams.

I do this in the DL version when I'm playing at short enough intervals. This would greately benefit anyone who understands the actual finances of the game and not just the "+30 gives me better payroll" concept.

Not very realistic... teams set prices at the beginning of the season in real life... they dont change on a game by game basis.

I agree. Price changes should be limited to the off-season and maybe ONCE after the All-Star break.
Otherwise people are manipulating the system -- exploiting a loophole.

I believe that some real life teams do this already (i think BOS) or are going to do it real soon. It makes sense. It would make going to see your team play a lesser team more appealing.

I doubt very seriously the MLB would allow such a practice. Primarily because you're insulting your opponent by saying they are no good and they cannot even put together a good game.
It's not done and as such should not be allowed in BBMO

or the reverse...You wanna see us play the Yanks? Pay up...big time! It may say come to the lesser important games, but it would kind of insult the fans by saying you're only good enough to see the big-time players and team if you can pony up the right amount of cash...and like posted above it tells those lesser teams, heck this game is so pointless we should almost let people in for free to see us beat you guys...

The Mets do tier-pricing, and, of course, by season end, some of the teams in the higher tiers end up being awful and it just looks silly.

The Chicago Cubs basically already do it. Because they own the store across the street from Wrigley that scalps the tickets. So they claim to sell all the tickets for the same price, but they are really selling the hot tickets for me and having their scalping division keep the extra money.
Of course, they are getting in trouble for this, but it didn't stop them from trying.
The way teams like the Red Sox get away with having the same price on a ticket for both the Yankees and Devil Rays is by offering season tickets.
To get a Yankee game, you basically have to buy a season ticket package. The full-season packages mean you are dropping a few grand. Even the small packages mix in some weak teams with one Yankee game.

The Red Sox DO do tiered-pricing, but it is only for the Monster seats and the Right Field Roof. They do it by designating certain games as "Blue" games and others as "Red" games. The Blue games are generally better opponents, like the Yankees, and usually the Interleague games in June. The ticket prices are higher for the Blue games, but only in those sections.
I think this is a good idea, but I would base it on opponents or what day of the week the game is (i.e., raise prices for the weekend games when everyone is better able to attend). I would also make it so you can only adjust your ticket prices in the beginning of the season, or make it so you can only lower your ticket prices once the season starts, you can't raise them. This is more in tune with real life. And some sort of season ticket holder aspect should be added in. Knowing you have X number of season ticket holders, and hence X amount of revenue, right off the bat in January can greatly influence your financial plan for the year ahead. This of course can fluctuate from year to year based on your team's performance, ticket prices and fan loyalty.
I only started playing the online game this week but I have been playing the download version since 2002. Great job with everything, this game gets better and better every year. Keep up the good work!
