I think Mogul should add this:

Question is: can they?

I would love to see it...but i think it would be better if there were some more Options in the League Editor...like divisional options also a new feature in Player editor where you could pick where a player is from...so Pedro would play for the Dominican...Felix Hernandez or Freddy Garica be from the Vezauala (pardon my spelling once again) ...so you would beable to create a world Baseball Classic.

It might be interesting to have a "Mogul" world classic if they can't reproduce the WBC itself. What I mean by that is a downloadable custom universe with the various countries and their respective rosters in a "fictional" league. I guess disabling trading and signing free agents and the like would be an obstacle, but I think it could work.

That actually sounds like a cool add-on you could download maybe at an additional 5 dollars where you would import the teams from the best players in your current year. It would be kind of fun to be able to play one of these every yearafter your season. And any holes in foreign teams could be made up by national players as it's expected that only 60% of the rosters will be MLB players.

I'd be willing to pay for it, it'd be a great addition to the game. As long as it doesn't take away from the time spend on Baseball Mogul 2007 being developed, and not taking anything away from the main version, then heck, why not put the WBC in there? Maybe even put it online and make a mini-game out of it, or something like that.

Since player birthplaces are now in the 2006 edition, you might think it would be simple to create an "All-Star Tournament" of fictional teams arranged by country of birth.

It would definitely be interesting to see. I might pay extra for it.

I'd want to try it first. Just to make sure that it doesn't give BBM a flat tire. I don't want to add any more unexplained "clunks" into BBM.

They ought to just pull an OOTP and release a half version with new rosters and a few fixes that is just a patch and make this an additional add on feature to buy.

Ditto. On either one of these ideas I'd be taking South Africa and playing the manager on "fan" to try to take them all the way to the top. Anything can happen in a short series!

Also it would be fun to put together MY dream team of American or Canadian players.

The WBC will fizzle out after a couple of runs. The strain on the players and the millions the owners pay them will overcome nationalism.

I've been playing soccer management sims for years and they all support managing teams in leagues from all over the world and international tournaments. The best is the Championship Manager / Football Manager series where a huge amount of research is done to produce accurate ratings for all the players. Personally I'd love to take a team like Japan or Cuba through an international tournament.

Personally i don't care about international teams and international sports. The only sport event i watch that includes international teams is the Olympic Hockey Tournament and i watch it only because they shut down the NHL during that period.... So i could care less....

My idea is to have the WBC in October. If you don't make the playoffs, you can play in the WBC:

1) Players are already in shape and it wouldn't interrupt Spring Training.

2) MLB doesn't have to worry about David Ortiz or Albert Pujols going on the DL because they got injured in the first round against Italy (Italy?!?).

3) If your team misses the playoffs, at least you still get to watch some of your favorite players in October.

If the WBC had started a long time ago...

My Italian American Major League Baseball All-Time All Star Team

by Angelo Louisa

However, before I unveil my team for your viewing pleasure or pain, depending on whether you agree with my choices, several notes of explanation are needed.

1. Anyone with at least one parent of Italian ancestry—like Billy Martin and Roy Campanella—was eligible for the team, but if I couldn’t verify this information, I didn’t choose the man. Thus, if in the future, I can prove that a better player at a particular position is indeed at least half-Italian American, I’ll modify my team accordingly.

2. I did not include any active Italian American players (e.g., Mike Piazza, Craig Biggio, and the man who may pitch forever, John Franco). My reason was that since their careers are not over, it’s difficult, if not impossible, to compare them to players whose careers have ended. And to be consistent, I applied this rule to managers and coaches as well. That explains the absence of Joe Torre (as a manager, though he qualified as a player), Tony LaRussa, Leo Mazzone, and other managerial and/or coaching standouts.

3. The team consists of a manager, two coaches, a trainer, an honorary captain, and 25 players—30 men in all. Therefore, not every successful Italian American major leaguer made the cut.

Manager: Tommy Lasorda

Coaches: Billy Martin and Frank Crosetti

Trainer: Tony Bartirome

Honorary Captain: Ed Abbaticchio (probably the first Italian American to play in the major leagues)

Starting Batting Order:
Dom DiMaggio, CF
Phil Rizzuto, SS
Joe DiMaggio, LF
Dolph Camilli, 1B
Rocky Colavito, RF
Yogi Berra, C
Ron Santo, 3B
Tony Lazzeri, 2B

Bench:
Roy Campanella, C
Joe Torre, C, 1B, 3B
Phil Cavarretta, 1B, OF
Tony Cuccinello, 2B
Jim Fregosi, SS
Robin Ventura, 3B
Carl Furillo, OF
Tony Conigliaro, OF

Starting Pitching Rotation:
Frank Viola
Sal Maglie
Johnny Antonelli
Tom Candiotti
Vic Raschi

Spot Starter: Kevin Tapani

Starter/Reliever: Don Mossi

Relievers: Dave Righetti and Dave Giusti

And they would have qualified to play for Italy.

My 2¢ worth: The World Baseball Classic is another one of those dangfool notions which should result in Selig being kicked out of real baseball & sentenced to an eternity watching AL baseball in a dual-use cookie cutter stadium, with AstroTurf, aluminum bats, and those horrid 70s uniforms.

WBC is like the AS game, a complete and utter irrelavance - so much is made of a whole bunch of nuthin'. I don't care if Japan can beat Cuba, and i don't care about watching 20 Sox and Yankees playing 20 Mets, Cubs, Braves and Cards.

I agree with what Unathletic A..

First of all, the WBC isn't an important integral part of the game. Has nothing to do with being a "baseball mogul" and with every complaining every single day about AI management, free agency, waiver wire, I can't believe you guys would actually want to put some bogus part into the game which would take away from valuable time and effort that still needs to be put into the game.

This is game is by far my favorite game, and before it gets cluttered with little stuff like WBC which would do absolutely nothing for me, I would like to see real baseball rules applied when moving players around, better AI management and ect. to make this the best and most realistic sim game out there.

Personally, I don't know how long it would take him to add this to the game, but I think with everything else it just doesn't make sense.

I say maybe, because we don't know if this'll ever happen again (if it is going to, I apologize for my ignorance). Also, alot of teams are reluctant to allow their players to participate (how would that be incorporated?), and obviously there are foreign born players in the game but not necessarily enough to field a complete 25-man roster for other countries (so players would be created for a tournament then disappear for all-time). Also, I wouldn't like to see someone with a definite American name (i.e. Ted Anderson) having under his profile as being born in China and playing for the Chinese team, so that would have to be adjusted.

Nope, WBC is a waste. Lets keep BBM the American professional major leagues and improve the game, which is to say, keep making it more and more realistic as to RL games.

Agreed ................although it would be fun to play in PBP (like the All Star game too ;) )

Yep, Frenchie and WS fan, I'd really like to be able to play the All Star game too, and make it more realistic, especially by not having players play the entire game while other "stars" don't ever get in the game like they now do in BBM.
