View Full Version : This is Getting Annoying

I'm new here at BMO and I've been having problems with the web pages where all the league stuff happens. If I click on a link it keeps giving me a blank page with a Sports Mogul Online link. It seems as if it is trying to retrieve the page, but nothing happens. I have to back up and keep trying until it works. Also, if I try to click on the summary or lineup or any of the league links it takes me to my account page. Needless to say this is pretty annoying. I don't think is has anything to do with cookies as they are on the lowest security level (accepting ALL cookies).

This problem doesn't happen all the time, but I'd say about half the time it does. Any advice. My league is A Few Dollars More and my name is Myketay77. Thanks.

Hi, Mike -

What browser and OS are you using?

It does sound like some kind of cookie problem...

What does the blank page with the Sports Mogul Online link look like? Is it the page header (with the logo and banner ad)? Can you get a screenshot of it, by any chance, and post it here?

I'd also like to ask you to try playing the game with a different web browser, and/or from a different computer, and see if you still have the problem.

Thanks for your patience, and I'll see if we can help solve this problem for you.

Cheers,
James Grove

<<What browser and OS are you using?>>

I'm using IE6 and Widows 98 2nd Ed.

<<It does sound like some kind of cookie problem...

On the top left corner is a 12 point size of an underlined (linked) Sports Mogul Online. The rest of the page is white and blank. No logos or banners. How do I attatch a screen shot?

<<I'd also like to ask you to try playing the game with a different web browser, and/or from a different computer, and see if you still have the problem.>>

I'll try that soon and let you know if there is any change.

<<Thanks for your patience, and I'll see if we can help solve this problem for you.>>

No problem.

Mike -

Are you running any other programs that might be interfering with the cookies? I'm fishing around here, but do you have anything like an ad blocker, or Gator, or something running that could be interfering with the way your browser processes the page?

Just a thought... I don't know if any of those products would cause this behavior, but it's possible there could be an incompatibility we don't know about yet.

If somebody else is trying to log on with your username and password at the same time as you, it will log you off when they sign on and vice versa.

Incidentally, I was able to log into your account from my computer. Of course, since the problem happens only intermittently, this doesn't prove anything.

We'll keep working on figuring this out.

Thanks,
James

I use Pop-Up Stopper by Panicware, and it doesn't seem to mess anything up. But it's pointless to use while you play BBM, because it disables all the scouting reports.

And it's also pointless because we don't run pop-up ads on our site!

Another great feature brought to you by your paid subscription!

Except for the time a couple months ago that you messed up and we had those annoying football ads every ten seconds ;)

I'm still having the same problems. I'm almost 100% sure it has something to do with my computer.

I tried using a different browser, Netscape and the same thing happened. I used my roommates computer and logged on and it was fine.

I was using adblocker and got rid of it and the problem remains.

I'm running out of ideas. Thanks for following up and helping me thru this. I'm having fun so far in the one league I'm in, but as you can imagine, it can be frustrating trying to view a page and getting nothing but the blank screen with link trying to log in.

Try posting or emailing me a screenshot.

To take a screenshot press the print-screen button on your keyboard, then go to a photo program and press ctrl-V to paste the image.

You can use:
Start->Programs->Accessories->Paint if you don't have any other programs.

I'd like to see the link, and maybe get a look at the URL, too.

And can you please send me the source code of that page? When you are looking at the bad page, go to the View menu and choose "Source". Then save the .htm file you will see, and email it to me.

My email is: james@sportsmogul.com

Thanks,
James

James,

I don't know if you got my e-mail with the screen shot and source code or not, but the problem seems to be in the past.

I was trying to see what could possibly be making this happen when I forgot I had a web site blocking program on my comp called we-blocker. After uninstalling it, the web site works great and there are no problems.

Thanks for the help, and just wanted to let you know what program was causing all the problems.

Congratulations on solving the problem!

And I'm quite relieved that it wasn't a server problem or something on our end.

What does We-Blocker do, anyway? Perhaps we can figure out why it does not like our site...
