Why did the sim use AAA players?

For the last 3 days of the season, I placed almost all my starters into AAA to avoid injury and fatigue going into the playoffs.

I log on today to find that the SIM started my CLOSER, who was in AAA, for one of the games, as well as another starter of mine in AAA. The AAA players I brought up had NO fatigue or injury issues, and now my starting and bullpen rotations are screwed up for the playoffs !!!

How could this happen ?

Due to the fact you were going into the playoffs, the computer makes the same assumption you did---that you want to rest your starters.

The computer automatically replaces the starting players (in your case the triple A players) with those found in triple A.

Sunzfan is exactly correct. We need to tweak the sim so that it makes sure it chooses minor league SP, not RP...which leaves your real bullpen tired for the playoffs.

The same thing happened to me when I forgot about the feature and moved my rotation to the minors. Of course, with them not rested for my next series, I was swept ;)

As you've read by now, Baseball Mogul has a feature to do exactly what you were trying to do. The primary reason this has to be in the AI is that some leagues sim more than a couple of games at a time (and even in 1 game at a time leagues, users aren't always right by their computers when their team clinched).

maybe this feature could be an option in BBMO3K. I myself would rather have my players play up till the end of the year with the excpetion of maybe a game or 2 before playoffs so i can get them in the proper rotation. I.E. so i can start with starter 1

That's the point of the system- so that your pitchers are rested and in the right rotation for the start of the playoffs. It automatically goes back to the #1 starter for the first game of the playoffs.
