I've had enough of the cheating nonsense. I'm starting a cheaters chain for people to report those lamn cheaters...so the admins can get rid of their accounts immediately. For starters...
johnboy (Fastsim 29 - San Francisco) - Controlled San Francisco and Oakland, then traded Oakland's whole starting lineup and rotation to San Francisco for a few old geesers in return. Then dumped Oakland.

apo-colorodo rockies-beta 101 hourly
His team is so unreal. He has a 600 point payroll and he can pay it because he has almost 300 points. It pisses me off that people actually want to win this way. How is it fun just sitting your team just dominate? I have a winning team the right way, Fair trades, and i'm proud of it. I can't stand people that do that. He took control of montreal, Anaheim, and Arizona, traded their players, then dumped the teams.

in my league (hourly 106) st.Louis has a payroll of over 700 points. The budget was for 410. I suggest that when they make people start paying that they put people like this who only want to play for the short term(one season sims) that they seperate them from the rest of us who would rather play long term games. If this doesn't happen then all they will be doing is driving away the long-term customers. Once I have to pay I don't want this kind of nonsense to go on.

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to let you know that we're working on the cheating problem, but it's going slowly. For example, we deleted some reported cheaters earlier this week, and it appears that in the process we accidentally locked out a legitimate. So we're looking into ways we can better verify cheaters.
Thanks for your patience,
Clay

I agree with you all that cheaters are annoying (Houston and Colorado in Beta 91, my league), but you have to remember that this is a Beta test...some people can't be forgiven, but the point of a beta TEST is to TEST the game...some of these people might be "testing to destruction" so to speak. I don't agree with it, but that could be the logic behind some of these "cheaters."

testing???? what do you think the pc ver of the game is for? if you want to see if a team with a HUGE payroll can win the World Series in Montreal, then play the PC ver of the game...losers.
guy in my league (beta 114 hourly) owns Montreal & Toronto...
of course guess which players are on Montreal's team?
Delgado, Mondesi, etc....
...and on Toronto's team, 1pt rookies with A+ ratings from Montreal.
If you want to see if you can win with a 600+ payroll OR win with a 100pt payroll, then play the friggin PC ver of the game!!
by the way, the user(s) name in beta 114 hourly who is abusing the rules is: "jayc" & "jayc51"
..at least he could've chose a different name?? idiot.
Thanks Clay for this cool oline version of your game! (even with the cheaters)

Not testing to see if someone can win. He meant testing to see if the game would break.

Yea, seriously though. The game needs to take care of this problem or at least minimize it before it starts charging. It totally takes the realism out of this game when people can cheat easily. I know it's only a beta test, but there should be a more systematic way of weaving out double account holders. Computers should do this automatically, not deleting them one by one by the admins.

We have the ability to lock out multiple teams that are being accessed from the same IP address BUT:
1) This will prevent anyone from playing in the same league with someone they share a computer with (e.g. two roommates or siblings). We already killed the accounts that the computer identified as cheaters, but they were just office-mates using the same computer to access their league...
2) Some cheaters would be able to get around this. Either by using multiple computers, or by being on a system that uses dynamic IP allocation.
We are still working on setting up "user-created" leagues. This has taken longer than we thought because of a number of complicated issues such as cheating. I suspect we will allow user-created leagues to simply block teams with the same IP. This will prevent most cheating, but isn't the right solution for all leagues.
Simply charging for games will also prevent a lot of cheating too. Right now, people are creating bogus accounts, signing in, cheating, then closing the account. If they had to pay $4.95 each time they did this, they would stop doing it.
I also expect we'll add two more options. The first is to vote out any team suspected of cheating. While we may be able to stop most cheating, the simple fact is that you guys are smarter than we are. You spend much more time watching the behavior of teams in your league. We can try to kick out cheaters that the system let through, but I suspect the league's owners will be better at identifying cheaters than we are.
The second is to create a league where trades have to be approved to some degree by the league (or by a commissioner, or by the computer). Many owners won't like this, so we don't want to make it mandatory. But I expect it will be an option.
