    Official Patch: Version 10.31

We have created a new official patch: Version 10.31.

You should be prompted to install this patch the next time you run Baseball Mogul 2008.

Although there are still some issues to address, 10.31 is an improvement over 10.29, and has proven stable for the last 4 days.

    Changes since 10.29 include:
    • Win and save no longer awarded to same pitcher
    • 'Regenerate Schedule' button added to Advanced Tools
    • Changing 'Games per Season' generates new schedule
    • Fixed several crash bugs in Play-By-Play
    • Computer teams spend less on 'Medical Staff' if league injury settings are reduced
    • 'Clear Injuries' no longer creats a bug with vastly increased walks (you will need to start a new game to fix this bug)
    • Extra runs eliminated on walk-off hits
    • Fictional pitchers no longer have more GS than G
    • 'Illegal Trade' error fixed (deadball era)
    • Bunt-for-hit frequency/success reduced
    • Improved realism in Pitch-By-Pitch mode
    • Complete Game loss shows as 'CG' in Game Log
    • Ball path variety improved
    • Pinch hitter omitted from box score pitcher list if didn't throw any pitches
    • New Vista-compatible installer
    • Defensive maturation rate increased
    • Fixed backwards player animations (probably)
    • Stolen base engine improved, including better historical accuracy, and fewer CS among fast runners
    • 'Tired'/'Sore' issues lessened

If you are not prompted, you can download it manually here:

If I didn't download 10.29, do I need to do both or will 10.31 upgrade from 10.24????

It'll (almost) always update straight to the latest version. To be more direct, yes, it'll update straight from 10.24 to 10.31.

Cool, thanks. I did download 10.29, just never updated as I read some things that, well, had me hesitate. I've already downloaded 10.31 too, so I'll just use that one. Thanks for the answers.

Does this apply to games already in progress or will I have to start a new one to have the changes take place?

You can apply it to a current sim. Any thing that is already in the same that came from a past bug won't be "undone" (such as, any player who was awarded obth a win and a save while that bug existed will still have that win and save), but all the fixes will apply from the moment you start playing the old saved game on the new patch.

An official and official patch with the same #? Now, that's odd. Just thought I'd point it out.

ever since I installed this patch I keep getting pitchers hurt that didnt even play that day. It's happened 4 days in a row now.

It's just a coincidence that you're seeing this after installing the new patch:

    6) Dives for a ball
    7) Collides with another fielder

It also checks for accrued "stress injuries" -- the chance of which is increased by playing too much without rest. These are the injuries that "appear" even on a day when a player doesn't play.

#5, #6 and #7 don't happen for DHs, so that reduces their injury chance. But IMHO the game still doesn't properly adjust for the reducd wear and tear of being DH.

This will be improved in BB2K8, when I basically rewrite the way injuries occur.

Ignore the last sentence, as that rewrite has yet to occur.

If this is the case, I can now see your point that we need at least 12 pitchers.

I hate seeing injuries to players that don't play that day.
