    Spam increase

We seem to be having more spambots than ever lately. Is something wrong with the security settings or something?

All everybody has to do is report the post by clicking on the icon in the upper right hand corner.

Wow, I didn't even know about that. Cool pro tip, BINGLE.

Yeah, it's not obvious enough I think. The same thing goes for inappropriate posts that you see. Just click that icon, describe the issue (spam, harassing posts, etc.) and it goes directly to Dee or Clay.

    I just reported 200tang's post.

    I kid, I kid.

Is there anyway to tell if it's been reported??

I've reported so many (spambots, I've never reported a forum member......well, I once thought of reporting a couple of my posts) that I feel guilty.

Those three (or was it four) today, already had responses in them by the time I saw them, so I just assumed someone had reported them. But they stayed for quite a while, so then I wasn't sure.

Is there a way to tell so Clay and/or Dee don't get tired of seeing OLDFATGUY REPORTED A POST again?

No, unless you're a moderator like they are. And why feel guilty about reporting spam posts? That's what you SHOULD do, so if you see 10 spam posts, go ahead and report all 10 of them. It's not like either of them has the time to go through every forum and look for posts that are spam. Clay has said that sometimes he gets to them in seven minutes, and sometimes seven hours. It really depends on what they're doing at the time, but that is the best (and only) way for them to know about spam/inappropriate posts.

Actually, I guess there is a way to tell if one of your posts was reported. You'll try logging on and it'll say "You have been banned from the forum."

    Okay, thanks.

I'll just keep pressing that exclamation point then.

Because he's OFG and he has no idea of how respected and highly regarded he is in these forums.

OFG just needs a little confidence and forum swagger. He's always apologizing.

    Re: Spam increase

The report post feature just sends an e-mail to the moderators, so even if we are not on the site, we check our e-mail, and it gives us a direct link to the thread, and a 2nd link to the post.

Usually in the past about 3-4 people would report, but usually a moderator would get it it before it is any more than that. So really it makes Clays job easier to report the spam. He doesn't have to surf the site to find all the spam.

Also another neat feature is that you can delete every post at one time from any poster. Which makes it much easier to control spam.

So very true. Now if only OFG had a reason to apologize to anybody.
