CSU is gonna maybe win 1 game this year I hope.
Have any of you seen any films by Carl Theodor Dreyer? I think he will probably be next on my watch list, specifically the film "Vredens dag" (Day of Wrath).
Spanglish
Few movies have felt as painful as this. Everyone is awkward, all the dialogue is annoying...what could be a kind of touching story or romance or family movie fails hard at all of the above. James L Brooks? What has happened to you. A cute little spanish girl and an amazing Paz Vega, some annoying white family members, and a lot of confusion and strained conversation. Even when she can finally speak English, it's like no one else can, so what's the point. Really I ended up thinking to myself if Lost in Translation was the successful version of this concept.

(still rather watch this a 2nd time than Drive)
Amazing Spider-Man
Ah a reboot, and thank goodness, Maguire was kind of annoying. The tall and lean Andrew Garfield means yet another brit playing an American comic book hero. And the spider bite is re-imagined...in a way that anyone could walk in there and be bitten, steal string, and become spider-man. Kind of cheap.
The supporting performances and lengthy build up make it more than worthwhile, and it may have been the best spider-man - it tugs some heartstrings with the inevitable Uncle Ben death, but not quite the same as the love story and public affection heaper on Tobey Maguire in the previous series. But action wise and villian-development wise, this may have been the best Spider-Man. Adn Garfield did play it like a high schooler a bit more believably...overall the tone was more in line with Marvel comic movies of the recent past (crossover!)

Lockout
Guy Pierce - star of such titles as Memento, LA Confidential, The Time Machine, and Ravenous. Finally a nice hero/action flick he can perform in...right? Ehhh. The supporting acting of this movie, the writing, the dialogue...it gets corny and almost B-movie ish at times. Some things don't make sense or were skipped by...why was the one ship able to dock with the space station's defense system's online? Why doesn't a maximum security prison 80 years in the future have something that detects guns or metal? Why did the guy with the gun need to stand next to the prisoner? What was on the friggin disk? Why was the crashing-thru-the-atmosphere-and-parachuting-to-earth sequence at the end complete in like 0.4 seconds? What was with the betrayal and twist sub plots?
I want to like this movie - I like sci fi, I like Pierce, and he wasn't bad in this. But it was a tough guy, sarcastic movie role, and there's only so much you can do. He was also largely indestructible for some reason. It was reminiscent of the Snake Plissken films...but I guess not as good. Watchable, but clearly not great, and unfortunate for Pierce who still can't crack the A-list.

Crazy, Stupid, Love
Rarely does a movie come along that offers such a succinct review of itself right in the middle of its title.
This movie sucked ass.

So I gave Prometheus a second chance.
My God is that movie the plot hole anthem. I hated it. The first movie that I hated and said "really cool visuals".
Total crap, Ridley. Total crap.
The Dark Knight Rises: 9/10
Amazing film. True to the Batman mythos, great callbacks to Batman Begins (an extremely underrated film), and the perfect cap to the best superhero trilogy of all time.
Best film trilogies (or more) ever:
1. Star Wars original
2. Indiana Jones
3. Nolan Batman
And 2 and 3 are negotiable. A masterpiece. A masterpiece with plot holes you could drive a tank through, but still a masterpiece.
