I guess that in a roundabout way, it would be that I found it on a store shelf. I was at Office Depot over 10 years ago and found a copy of Football Mogul (probably the first version). A few years later- I don't know if there was a link in the game that I finally got a chance to check out, or if I went to a search engine to look up the possibility of getting an updated version- I ended up at the Sports Mogul site and downloaded a demo of one of the Baseball Moguls (either '03 or '04) and eventually got the full game.
Unfortunately, the Football Mogul disc has since broken (literally in half) and had to be thrown away...
Hi everyone!
The first time I saw Baseball Mogul '09 was at some store in New Jersey. I'd been playing MLB '07:The Show for about 3 years. Then I saw this game just on the shelf, and I've been playing this ever since.
I was looking on Metacritic.com's top rated video games of all time and saw this:

Then I looked up others and found Baseball Mogul:

BBM 08 - Half Price Books.
I said search engine. I was on a demo site just looking for a new game I might want to play and I had downloaded a bunch of games that night from the original beta version of GTA to Carmageddon and this game called Baseball Mogul I had never heard of just by searching on that site which demos were the newest ones uploaded. Been hooked ever since.
I remember the day I saw Baseball Mogul for the first time was back in 1998/1999 when BBM was made by Infinite Monkey Systems.. I ran across two games (both classics in the making) I could not decide upon. Baseball Mogul and Roller Coaster Tycoon. Couldn't decide on which one. Decided to get both, the prices were right. I lost more hours to BBM that summer than RCT, but man, was it worth it.....
The Philadelphia Phillies are the 2008 WORLD SERIES Champions!!!!!!!

Coincidence? To all others maybe. To DIEHARD Phillies fans? I think not!
I found out about it when my brother got it for me as a birthday present - I think it was pre-2000.
Ever since I get the newest version every 1-2-3 years, depending on the new features and the feedback I hear.
My crew and I were thrown back into an earlier time in Earth's history when we slingshotted around the Sun, travelling at warp 11........we arrived at an 2006 Star Trek Convention, in Pascedena, California.......Scottie and Mr. Zulu both suggested that we should buy Baseball Mogul '2007.
5-6 or so years ago, there was a project to extend MLB for PC when EA lost the licensing rights. I think that was the year that the only PC arcade style game was for NCAA baseball. Lots of people talked about Mogul and now I am an addict.
Found a copy of an older version in a discount bin and loved it. Years later found the disk and started playing it again and still loved it. Bought 12, joined an online League, 5 Tool and now I am addicted. Thanks.

I pirated the first version of the game wayyy back in 1997 when I was 12 years old. Pirated it for a few years after. Ordered the CD version of Baseball Mogul 2000 for the first time with my parent's credit card, had to split the cost with a friend. Pirated the game some more until somewhere between 2006-2008. Bought every version ever since. Such a beautiful design concept for a game Clay, I remember the days before Mogul as a grade-schooler making my own baseball cards and leagues out of big pieces of paper. When I discovered Mogul (probably on some search engine of the time like Alta-Vista) it totally rocked my world! I like all the changes you've made over the years, and I've tried and bought OOTP and it just doesn't even come close in the "fun" category. The advantages that franchise has over yours though cannot be understated, but it's not like those features are OOTP-exclusive, they are really just part of the actual baseball world. To makes all those ideas like Rule 5, proper FA & draft signings, etc operate within Mogul without disturbing the "fun" factor I can see being a difficult task. It's actually a very complex system in itself that would be hard to hammer out succinctly in the Mogul format. I hope you can figure it out though, it would truly put Baseball Mogul in a class of it's own. Keep up the good work Clay, I shall always see you as the dude who made fake baseball stats possible!
HAHA! I love the folks that said "and now I'm an addict" I couldn't agree more with all of them. There was a game I played back in 1997 called GRAND SLAM BASEBALL for PC Windows 95 made by Virgin Interactive. I loved the GM aspect of the game, but it lacked the other stuff: (the injuries, signing free agents and continuing beyond the current season,) but I loved it. After PCs became more advanced I could no longer play that game since it would only run on WIN95. for years I was in Baseball limbo until a fateful day in 2007 at a small gaming store in Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, NJ. I came across that red box with BASEBALL MOGUL on it. I read the description, bought it home and I have been an addict ever since!!....My name is Fred and I AM a BMaholic :>(
