Thank goodness K-Rod got that save. I was really close to sending my can of PBR through the TV screen.

What does one make of Ryan Vogelsong? He has defied all the metrics for the past year and a half. I have him on my fantasy team and keep waiting for the implosion but he keeps making solid starts. At at some point there has to be regression, right?

He plays in a very good park and in a relatively weak division.

It's the Matt Cain effect. But he should be fine. Maybe one day he will implode but who knows.

This might be some sort of record... It's now 37 ABs and 36 strikeouts. Hopefully, his football career will be a lot better.

So do alot of other pitchers and they don't put up those kind of numbers. All the advanced metrics show his ERA should be around 4.00. The consensus after last year was "don't believe; there will be regression." Thats why he went undrafted in most fantasy leagues. But he's been doing it for a year and a half now. Is there just something special about his style or something that should cause us to just ignore the metrics? His SIERA is 4.30 but his ERA is 2.31!Thats just crazy! The reason i'm so interested in this is because I own him in a league and have been offered Neil Walker and Wandy for him. I see the metrics and I want to hit accept, but Vogelsong has been a QS machine this year and would hate to trade him if this is really who he is despite what the metrics say.

Various San Francisco pitchers have been able to post abnormally low BABIP and HR/FB numbers consistently. Matt Cain did it for a few years before his peripherals took a major step forward. Here's a couple Fangraphs articles from last year that bring it up:

So where is Ichiro going? End of career and needs to be moved. PS- you guys in Seattle have such a great stadium, one of the best. Need players!

I'm not sure where he'd fit at this point. He doesn't walk enough to be really valuable offensively unless he hits at least .310, and at this point you'd be lucky if he hits .290.

Ichiro, like the rest of the Mariners, has crazy home/away splits.
.307/.321/.409 Away and .214/.255/.289 at Home. So he probably has something left in the tank. If they fix Safeco, then I wouldn't mind bringing him back at a much lower salary. The problem is that there are probably three better OFs already in Seattle so playing time might be an issue unless they have Jaso playing first more often to open up the DH slot.
