Very touching story. Basically, a group of students harassed/bullied a bus monitor and it was caught on tape. It went viral and someone set up a fundraiser to raise money to give her a vacation. That, too, went viral and it's now raised over $200,000 for the women. Things like this make me still hold on to some faith in humanity.

middle schoolers are the absolute worst. Too young to realize that people are in fact human and have lives of their own, old enough to be brutally painful.

On a side note I think Matt Lauer is a bonehead. Regardless of what these kids did, he "would want nothing more than to post their names and addresses"??? Really Matt? I think there are better ways to handle this than to attempt to create a situation where others can bully them in retribution.

Exactly, which is what's so great about this fundraiser for her. Took a sad state of affairs and turned it into a positive, uplifting story.

I watched the video and trust me, I have never wanted to hurt someone as much as I did those kids. It is a very good think I wasn't there to hear it, or I would be in jail for kicking a couple of 13 year old asses. The thing that got me the most is when they are saying something about her sweating, and she turns and says, "No, I'm crying." Maybe one day the savage emotions and instincts that humans have will be gone, but I'm not ashamed to say that I would love to have those kids be harassed even more so than they harassed her.

Middle schoolers suck. I can't imagine having to deal with 12-14 year old kids on a regular basis Jesus what a horrible life that would be. Hopefully this story makes these kids realize that what they did was horrible, that the world is disgusted with their actions in such a way they will give this woman anything to make up for it.

Maybe their parents will slap the **** out of them, too.

while much of petey's post is bullsh!t, he does bring up a point. while i don't think she's there to "control" anyone, why didn't she report this behavior prior? And where was the actual bus driver during all of this?

"kids being kids". Too often bullying is put off as just "kids being kids". If she didn't report it, she herself...an adult...didn't do her job as a school bus monitor. She's not to get confrontational with them but surely she has a responsibility to report it. If she did report it, than there was a fault up the ladder that should be addressed.

I can understand kids not reporting examples of bullying but an adult in a position where her one role is to monitor? I don't know...it seems to me her responsibility is to report it and the school bus driver should've as well. And if they did...then we have a bigger issue. Ignoring bullying behavior as an adult, writing it off as "kids being kids", allows that behavior to fester and grow.

On the flip...maybe the prior occurrences weren't that bad and this behavior was really the first time it got near this level? Unlikely, but possible.
